What does that mean exactly, if someone refers to themselves as such?

Met a lovely woman today out riding and got chatting to her. (I really will talk to anyone when I'm riding) She lives about a 20 minute hack from me and during the course of our conversation we got around to talking about lessons. She then informed me that she was an Intermediate Instructor, been riding and brining on youngsters for 30 years. She doesn't do many lessons but enjoys teaching enthusiastic students, of all abilities, who enjoy their riding. I assume that means she prefers to teach numpties like me?! LOL

Anyway, I've booked a lesson with her for Monday morning. She has a lovely rubber/sand arena.

I've no idea what the qualification stands for, but just really hit it off with her. She will also ride Patches for me, to show me how to do things when I'm struggling...something alot around here won't do.

An Intermediate Instructor holds the BHSII, which is between the AI and I exams.

Of course, a lot will depend on whether you get on with her style of teaching etc but the II is not an easy exam to pass if you don't know what you're doing!

Enjoy and report back please!

Probably means she has got her BHSII or British Horse Society Intermediate Intructors exams. Equivilent to taking stage 4 and the Intermediate Intructors exam now. If she took it 30 years ago it will be very different to the what they do today but at least you know she did train properly at one stage and also she has 30 years of experience! To be honest exams don't really mean that much IMHO, so go along and see how you get on with her.
