Hi, I wondered if anyone knows how you define an arena as being International? Is it done on the size? If so then how big does it have to be? My landlord has just built me a new arena and I need to know if I can classify it as International!!! :)

Not sure what the offical dimensions are.

This is the local Equestrian Centre in Maryland, USA.

Myerscough is international size isn't it?
Can you do a visual (minds eye) compare to that?

You still looking to move, or have things picked up?

Hey, have been to Myerscough today and there is not much in it at all. May stay longer but still looking to move at some point as the landlords daughter is going to take over after college in 2 1/2 years! May have the chance of another yard aswell just to run as DIY so in discussions at the mo with the owner. Will be a fantastic arena if the surface settles as works out and have loads of plans for schooling for the next two years for my horses! Gonna take full advantage now while I have the opportunity! :)

Firstly, there is no such thing as an Olympic sized indoor school :)

FEI jumping rules are Indoors 1200sq Metres, short side a minimum of 20 metres (although IMHO that is small) Outdoors 4000 Sq Metres, short side 50 metres minimum.

So an indoor 20 x 60 would be on the limit, outdoor 50 x 80 on the limit. Remember that is indoor arena size and not size of steel building (which is measured to outside of steel frame)

Most people (or yards) claim their 60x20m arena's are olympic size. That may be true for dressage but certainly not for showjumping. The 'official' BS(Ja) minimum size for a SJ arena is 60mx30m. I think Olympia is smaller tjan tjat though....so what's 'official' lol!
