So, first round is out of the way, and what do people think so far? I followed it last year and really enjoyed it, it was a good size course, pleanty of competitiors and I like the fact it was a series as it gave me somthing to follow.

Round one in devon and only 2 went clear out of 40, so it must have been a challenging and technical corse, so if this is preperation for jumping in europe, then looks like people have a steep hill to climb.

The only two to go clear (if you didnt see the results) were winner Helen Tredwell and Opportunity and 2nd place Vicky Tulloch and Soliegette. Is great to see Vicky have a good start to the series as she won it last year, will be great to watch her this year and it really must be time she had a try out on the national team. Helen did well too as she had Naomi in third place.

So, anyone else going to be following it this year? hope so and would love to hear what you think of it as a competiton too.

apparently RH went down and tweaked the course and took some poles out making it all airy to give a more international feel to the track and thought anyone who could jump a DC would be ready for a team place. Which I think is great as its a much more transparent and clear attainment level for everyone.

The series is a very necessary one. Many people seem not to appreciate just what is needed to compete in terms of scope, speed and the technical demands, at top international level. Unfortunately for some years Area Trials (formerly Area International Trials) have not been uniformly up to doing the job for which they were originally designed.
