I’m a student from the Netherlands, next year I have to do a mandatory internship abroad, I choose Ireland.
my university doesn’t have any network contacts in Ireland
-how can I find internship vacancies in the agri/food sector in Ireland?
-are there websites where I can find housing

Whats your degree in? Does your university have a relationship with another Irish University that could help?

Also just a heads up that housing is a nightmare at the moment all over the country 😅

I study international food&agribusiness, my university has a partnership with TU Dublin.
I do think that housing is a nightmare all over Europe 😅

Do you drive? How long is your placement? As with most agri its generally in the countryside so commuting is a big factor!

I have my drivers license, it will be a 20 weeks internship. I prever (big) animal feed producers, like the Dutch company agrifirm. They are all over the world but not in Ireland

So the big ones that I know of are Gain, Connolys Red Mills, Pegus, Baileys and Blu Grass. (I'm not sure if theyre all produced in Ireland). Glanbia (Tirlan) is a big agri business that reaches into all sectors and Dairygold also has grain mills in lumbardstown. I work in the dairy industry so not super caught up on grains but still in the agribusiness if you need more help! Feel free to pM me also.

Does it have to be Ireland what about the UK . We have retired but our feed company was a medium to large company. Duffields based in Dorset, Kent and Norfolk.
United feeds is in Northern Ireland , Belfast .
For Farmers UK which is international based in the Netherlands, Belgium , Germany , Poland as well as the uk .
The Kerry Group is Tralee, Ireland.
Hope some of that helps.

Erm, being out of the European Union might put the kibosh on UK placements?

Kerry Group, Glanbia, Red Mills, these are probably your best bets.

Uk is an option, but university did give the advise to choose Ireland because I don’t need visa for Ireland, and I can get Erasmus scholarship which is €500/€600 per month

This company makes and sells pork products. Based in the midlands of Ireland so acommodation might be a bit more reasonable than Dublin. They are big into logistics and selling to other countries so might be interesting in that respect but maybe won't suit if you're fond of pigs. They've been around with different names for at least a hundred years so long standing.

Rosderra Meats

The midlands are nice but a bit boring though. You might prefer going somewhere in the west of Ireland. It's got the best scenery.
