Took my boy out in local orchards. As some of you will know bringing my boy back into work slowly after 18 months off. He is 20 yrs old.

Anyway, set off quietly at walk round orchards,(really long rows of cider apple trees). Walked down one lane and thought would trot up next, walk down next and maybe canter and trot remaining lane.

Well that didn't work!

Walked down first lane and thought would trot up next, ( are you still with me?)

Asked nicely trot, got buck, ,buck, buck, buck, buck!!!

At one point all I could see was the ground in front. Thought, I'm off, luckily managed to get head up and continued with some argument at canter at trot pace for rest of row, really long.

So much for being 20 yrs old and unfit! Huh!

The upshot is took him on identical ride today and was innocence personified, bless. Cantered and trotted as asked no argument.

They just love to take us by surprise don't they.

Thats so funny! I bet he was chuckling to himself.:D

I took my old chap (retired with navicular) for a little walking hack just to give him some interest, got off the lane into a field to go easy on his poor feet - he took off at great speed, bucking and farting, and didn't stop until he had circled the whole 12 acres or so and slid to a stop at the gateway and nonchalantly ambled back out onto the lane!

You've gotta love these old timers haven't you!:D

Excellent! Certainly feeling well isn't he! Bless him. I'm massively jealous that you have an orchard to ride in! How lovely :)

I also love your sig ;)

Thank you Jesseand Charlie. He is such a character, immediately went into Weston Donkey Mode! Love 'em.

Today he babysat a youngster, butter wouldn't melt!
