Does anyone else find that Interval training blows their horse's brains? I don't really need it for fitness, but more for weight loss and I'm very lucky to have lots of open fields on site. However by the 3rd transition to canter he starts acting a tit, just taking hold of the bit and dicking off. I find he's better with just one or two long canters, rather than lots of stopping starting and repeatedly asking for canter, or even just keeping to trot work. Does anyone else have the same issue?

It sounds like you’re not cantering for long enough or giving him too long a break between sets!

Ah right maybe. I kind of tried to build it up slowly by just cantering for one long side of the field at first. Then I was going to build it up to two sides and so on...

Yeah, that’s not enough…. you need to go slow and steady but for a good 2-3mins for a basic level of fitness
