Interview at a tack shop

Hello,

As the title suggests I have an interview at a tack shop, but I'm unsure what to wear?
I have worked on yards before so have worn smart clean yard clothes/jods. And have interviews in shops/offices so have worn suit trousers and blouse's but what would be best for a tack shop interview, the tack shop is in a large warehouse type set up, and when i have been in there the staff are generally wearing jeans and polo shirt with job boots/country boots.

I would go for jean style but not denim trousers, and an unfussy shirt or blouse, and the kind of boots you can wear comfortably all day long. Bear in mind the interviewer will probably be more dressed up than the staff! Good luck OP!
 
I would always dress smartly for an interview, regardless of what the day clothes are. Smart trousers and a blouse or a knee length black tunic style dress with a thin belt to match your shoes and add a little colour.
 
I would always dress in smart "business" clothing for a job interview, regardless of what you may be wearing in the event you're successful. So go for a smart trouser suit (if you have one) in a sensible colour, with a tailored or smart top in a contrasting colour. Or, smart trousers (not jeans) and a jacket. If you're a skirt girl, go for smart, not too short skirt with jacket and blouse/top. Sensible but smart footwear (they may show you round the place as part of the process). Neat hair, not too much jewellery.

ETA ... if they do show you round and you get to meet the other staff, remember that your interviewer may well ask them what they thought of you afterwards, so treat this as part of the process. Be friendly, knowledgable and professional. I once got a job on the basis of the comments of the other staff members, who liked me better than another candidate, when there was nothing between us on paper otherwise.

I'd personally rather end up being over dressed than under dressed. Although I do think that a lot of 'horsey wear' can look very smart, like clean leather country boots, jeans, tweed jackets etc, I'd still opt for a trouser suit, probably with some smart flat shoes rather than teetering around in heels. Minimal jewellery too, but horsey if you have anything. For example I have a white gold necklace with a small horse shoe on etc. Just shows a bit of thought, probably go un-noticed but I always think about the details. You never know what may break it or make it for you.

There is a difference between an interview at a yard where you would expect to be in smart but more workmanlike attire and an interview in the retail sector where something a little more formal would be expected. Personally I'd opt for a trouser suit of some form - but a reasonable skirt suit would be fine if that's what you have. Oddly the aim is not to be noticed for what you wear!
 
An interview at a tack shop should be no different to any other shop. I worked in a tack shop where we wore jeans and a hoody as our uniform. I went to my interview in a smart blouse and trousers. Better to be over dressed than under dressed. Good luck :)
