Just a quick one.Had the vet out for one of the horses yesterday. Basically he was being a pratt - superfit racehorse - say no more !
Decided to dump his jockey, jump over the fence then fall over. Landed on his shoulder and must of landed on something as he has now has a puncture wound. You can actually stick your finger in it - well the vet did yeukk.
It's been flushed out and it will drain easily because of where it is . So no stitches just some antibiotics etc
Me, personnally, likes the old fashioned ways - salty water. However we have a young whippersnapper who has suggested this gel stuff. Would this be any good? The vet is back out later again anyway to do some jabs on the other horses. He seemed quite happy with the salty water system but if this gel will help it heal quicker we will give it a go.

Intrasite gel? BRILLIANT STUFF!!

I had a two year old, who had an appalling injury to his shoulder. An open wound, the size of a human hand. With I-G, within 14 days, it was the size of a 10 pence piece, and a month later, it was completely healed. No scar, not even any white hairs, and no matter how you searched, no evidence could be found.

Alec.

Ok rave reviews so far.So how do you use it ?
I know you squirt it in Do you just leave it then or do you wash it out and replace it or just keep it topped up?

We used it on a deep puncture wound on the chest a couple of months ago and I was really impressed. I squirted it in and was told to sort of 'seal' the edges so that it formed a plug stopping dirt from entering, just remove it once a day to replace with fresh. It keeps the wound moist inside and helps it to heal without shrinking the tissue and so forming a proud scar. I'm another that can say it has healed with no tell tale marks.

Ditto this, except horse in question was about 15. Squirt it in, leave it, top it up every 12 hours or so! The site developed a pretty big, pretty yucky-looking scab, and I remember breath being sucked through teeth by some other owners when they saw it, but when it came off the area underneath was beautiful, and as above I now struggle to find a scar.

Intracite is always kept in my medicine box. It much preferable to the constant dragging about of the wound with cotton wool that we all the time. Of course you'll get scaring after as you are washing away the new cells and the wound can't heal properly.

No, keep it clean, not scrubbed and pop in the Intracite gell.

Fantastic stuff, use it on any deep scratch (my mare scars easily). Pack it into the wound so it fills any gaps, and slightly around the outside as well so it seals the wound. Once a day, give it a clean to get any gunk off, leave it a couple of minutes to dry, and re-pack it with Intrasite. Works wonders, especially with a charcoal dressing.

love the stuff. my vet gave me one for free as my horse burst old scar tissue open, i placed it on the dressing (if not put on correctly the gel just falls off!) and bandaged the dressing on. The wound healed with in two weeks, it was more the way it healed that impressed me. the skin edges just seem to close together from the edges with fresh new skin. iv got on in my box now. Vetalintex is just as good.
