I'm doing intro A on my cob in a few weeks and I was wondering if anyone had any tips? Also my horse is green so I'm just going to give him experience but there's the evil, incredibly scary white boards which they have flower pots around. He's ridiculously spooky in a new place and will just go round in a permanent outside bend spooking constantly. We have white boards at home but he is completely different in a new place. The competition is next Sunday and we're hiring the same arena out this Wednesday but they don't hire it out with the white boards.

Just go in and practice and forget about the competing side of it if you can, it is a bit of fun for the first few outings, try not to focus on the white boards or the flower pots, instead concentrating on your breathing and where you and your cob are supposed to be going..if he is green, it is all just practice for him..Go and enjoy the experience and praise him afterwards whether you get placed or not, its all good for him adn will hold you in good stead for the future, good luck and keep taking him places :)

If you have anything at home that could replicate white boards, that's always a good thing to get them used to :) Focus on what you're supposed to be doing always helps too. If you can, ask for an extra minute or two to walk around; I took mine to his first show a few weeks ago and they gave me a little bit longer, so he could examine all the terrifying plant pots that were going to definitely eat him.
Plus, if it's unaffiliated (I guess it is!), they'll always try and pick out good points and focus on those in your comments. My pony and I trotted up the centre line, cut off the corner and spooked at B, but still got a decent mark overall because they liked his movement and how we rode together. They want to encourage you! Don't let yourself worry about the negatives, but look at the positives!
Also, with Intro A, make sure you've practiced those half 10m circles in trot, they're a nightmare!

Agree with practising the half circles they are tough and far too hard for an intro test in my opinion

I'm not sure there are half 10's in trot in prelim or novice, it seems rather unfair!! It's a nice test apart from that though, but I definitely prefer B to A!

Agree re:trot half circles!! Make sure you do 4strides on the centre line as your doing them- this gives you accuracy points lots of
People just change bend with no straight.
The next time they are seen is novice level!
Enjoy it and try to forget it's a competition!
