Can someone remind me how fast Im meant to go? Did intro 3 years ago and so cant remember the speed! I do novice on my other horse, but Im aiming one of my other horses for his first intro in September, however he's a million times slower! Obviously the speed is slower for intro but HOW slow? This horse doesnt know how to gallop (Im working on it) - Basically he'll do a mid-canter all the way round so how many time penalties should I expect?!

do you have a stretch of field and a car? work out how much 450 meters is and try and do that in 1 minute! then you should know how fast to go!

It is faster than mid canter. I got time pens on my horse last season as he was so green trotted a fair few fences and then could not gallop! Its the same speed as PN if that is more help.

dont worry about it, go the speed your horse is comfortable at. I would be aiming to get round on a horse that was happy an comfortable for a first run. The speed will come with experience. Enjoy.

Ok, yeah I dont think this horse will do a fast canter all the way round! He's a Welsh Cob and his stamina is terrible and he hasnt learnt to gallop properly yet. He'll do a fast canter but not for long as he finds it hard work (even though he should easily be fit enough for this level).

I'll just aim to get round in one piece and try to stay in a nice rythm.
