I took my cob to his first dressage 2 weeks ago and he was placed 1st with 69.13%, mainly 7 & 8's with a couple of 5's. there was no score board so I've no idea what the others got. Is this a good score? Average? Above average? Excellent for his first attempt? We're going again tomorrow and I'm stressing like crazy because there's more in the class this time and I feel like we're under pressure. Or with a score like that am I stressing over nothing. It was intro b that we scored on.

there is not a lot u can do with other competitors...
just go in and try your best...
no need to get stressed out
thats what i would do...
:) :) :)

He got 5's for wandering up the centre line and because we went hxk instead of e to b. his 6's were in his free walk and 20m circle allowing the horse to stretch. He needed to stretch into the contact more. I've worked on his free walk and he's much better better but think his wandering centre line is a lost cause lol

He's a pain to keep in canter so prelims are out for now sadly. Another thing we need to work on lol. I only stole him from my mum 5 weeks ago when I had a week off work and was bored and starting schooling him so we aren't doing too badly

That's a very good score. I've only ever managed 65! I wouldn't really worry about the other competitors...although if the scores are up on a board I do like to see who placed where and what scores other people got. But you would never know where they scored highly or not so I suppose it is irrelevant. I'm just nosey!

Some of the early prelims like prelim 1 don't have too much canter so maybe keep an eye out for those if you want to step up a level.

I just want to know whether his score was way above the others or we were all pretty close, again I think I'm just being nosey too. Ill have to have a look at prelim 1 and keep a look out for if the place I go ever runs it

Did he get placed? If its any help i went out last week on ex racer first time intro b we scored 64 which i felt happy with- we were placed 5th out of 13.just to give you an idea.
But if you were happy that's main thing. I was just happy we kept all 4 feet on ground and inside the boards- next time out maybe more exciting as i think he was maybe overwhelmed slightly this time!

Great score for first ti e out. To help with the wandering up the centre line, line up C with the judge. Then all the way up keep judge behind C. Remember to steer with your legs as well, sometimes horses wander on straight lines because the rider has one leg stronger than the other.
