Well, after the sadness of my beloved mare dying of colic on Monday, my mum was left with a dilemma. We were told last week that the owner of the pony companion was going to sell up. We were offered her at a bargain price... so can you guess what happened?!
My mum couldn't face giving up after Maiden, and it seemed it was now or never so she agreed to give the pony a home. It may seem a bit soon to some, but it has already helped my mum to keep going after such trauma.
So here she is - introducing Puerto Rico (Pottie for short - and it suits her a lot!)
We don't know that much about her, really..! She's about 14.2hh, TB x NF at a guess (we'll see when she officially becomes part of the family on Saturday, when her current owner hands over her paperwork), has done all PC stuff and has had a couple of years off now. I'll be sitting on her once we get her tack, just to remind her that riding still happens, then I'll get her sorted in spring next year so we can hopefully find her a nice sharer to have fun with
I'll get some pics taken when I sit on (and hopefully not if I come off - I always swore I'd never get on her, seeing what she was like when she was in work (nuts) but she's calmed down a lot since... I hope...) and will hopefully be able to post updates on our progress next year. You never know, if she and I get on I may even take her to small parties, just because I've missed partying in the last five years!
So out of the sadness surrounding Maiden, and however hard it is to go up to the field and see her hoofprints in the ground and her bridle hung up in the tack room, some small positive has come out of the last week or so.
