Hi, any tips greatly recieved.

Just bought home a rescue JRT bitch aged between 1-2 years. She seems to have settled down well but is very food orientated and quite dominant in her behaviour to my JRx dog.

She is fine but I'm a little worried about him as his nose has been severly put out of joint particularly as she went for him and they had a little spat when I paid him attention.

She is now sleeping peacefully next to me and he has disappeared to my room, poor boy.

Hows best to handle this?

I personally would send her away (as a reprimand) she needs to know the "house rules" if there are none u need to impliment some, although I dobt believe in the feed first, stroke first conditioning I do believe you need to be the leader the rule maker as such, he will come out of himself, he is just finding his bearings wanting his space arounf this "new arrival" change to the usual routine, but you have to put her in her place on his behalf, if she snaps/nips bites, take her colar firmly, tell her "no" and remove her form the room for time out, and dont give her any attention or make a fuss when you let her re enter, if he usually gets on the chair and gets a stroke, dont change that, instead nip her challenging him in the bud in every instance.
It could be she has been like this in previous homes and instead of giving her a few ground rules she has just been passed on.

Dont baby him, but on the other hand don't let her bully him.

Thank you both. Good points to go on.

They have settled down over night with no further spats

She was 'top dog' in her foster home, over 3 dogs.
