Hello everyone!

Please meet my impulse buy of the lifetime - Benito!

After riding at the school and sharing for the last 14 yrs (on and off really, at a very amateur level :) I have finally been able to afford my own horsey and totally fell in love with this 5 yo PRE gelding from pics and videos at andalusitano.com, sooooo
- what would a clever person do -
- probably go to Spain and try him and THINK with their head -
- but I guess I'm not that clever (actually I just couldn't afford it :)
so
I just bought him and had him shipped over and there I was in June this year absolutely smashed by this loveliness in front of me!!! He's the best horse I have ever ridden and every day I see him I just can't believe how lucky I am!

on his first day in UK, I am bribing him with some old bread:

on his second day, feeling quite cosy or maybe just exhausted from 5 day trip from Spain:

At the moment we are doing dressage at Prelim level; he seems to enjoy it, he tries very hard, bless him :)
Can't say he's perfect - he has his quirks: hates to be washed (however doesn't mind clipping, thank God), wouldn't blink an eye to the traffic but ducks freak him out, and he is extremely suspicious of puddles and mud! but hey :)

bullfighters' horse shouldn't be afraid of cows:

dosing in last warm days of the autumn:

So much for the introduction! hope you enjoyed it :)

Lovely horse, don't think I could do that though - you're very brave

Mine hates being washed, but doesn't mind being clipped either. Are you going to be doing some jumping with him? Bit of spookiness is usually good for jumping :)

Think he will be white in a few years though, hopefully he can get used to being washed by then :D

eek, I know, he will be white before too long! wonder if I'll just have to clip the dirty patches off :\
with jumping I've tried a few small logs/poles etc, he did it but seemed to be enjoying it less than dressage. I might try jumping in the future, maybe when he's older? Stencilface, does yours jump when being spooked? :)

Oh, what a wonderful post. I am so glad you have the horse of your dreams and hope your lives together will be joyous and wonderful.

He looks a lovely, handsome and honest gent, so well done you for going on your instincts.

BTW, does he understand verbal commands, requests? A multi-lingual horse must be worth his weight in gold ;)

Best wishes to you both x

Stencilface, isn't that bizarre that they grow such coats! When I got mine a lady who keeps about 70 PRE stallions said that I'll never need to clip him because they don't grow much at all! 5 months fast forward and voila, behold the sweat and furriness!
Archiesmummy, he seems to understand a lot of what I say to him, not too good on commands really (I even learnt how to say walk-trot-canter in Spanish), but he picks up on moods in an instant! He's a glass-half-full kind of horse though :)

Wow, what a looker!! You`ve got some guts :) and so happy for you that it worked out ok.... a couple on my yard has PRE and she has no winter woolies at all :(

Lots of updates and photos please :)

I wish mine had no winter woolies, he grown a new coat every month I'm not kidding!
I've got an update but it's rather sad - he went a little bit lame today :( eeek :( the vet's coming out tomorrow... nothing apparent, no swelling, no heat, hooves clean... oh well. it must be the muddy turnout.

He's stunning. :D I'm glad he's working out. Just think if you had gone with you head and thought you had to view him you would have missed out on him. :( But luckly you went with your heart :)

My pony has gone lame today. He is prone to foot abcesses. I've only had him a couple of months and this will be his third one already :( I hope your boy is ok and there is nothing seriously wrong with him if your fields are muddy he may have thrown an abcess to. I'll keep everything crossed for you and your boy hopefuly he'll be back on top form soon. xx

He's stunning. I love Iberians. I have 4 lusos and luso partbreds. They have such intelegence. Lovely horses.

Particularly like the photo with the cows.

Thanks Laura, gosh I hope your pony will be better soon too! Winter sucks, doesn't it! I was totally shocked today to find him lame, it's the first time for us and I guess I just forgot they can be such delicate fragile creatures easily going out of order :) oh well, I just hope the vet tomorrow will be able to help. nothing worse than uncertainty!

OEH, I was going to say, the horses in your sig are all absolutely stunning! aren't Iberians just the best :) so honest and hardworking and lovely :) If I was rich I'd keep more of them, they are fairytale horses with brains! the only other breed that I secretly keep looking into are those floaty-paced dressage warmbloods :)
