hi there everyone! im new to the forum, and thought i'd introduce my dog Betty: she is an american bulldog, and will be 3 at the end of july. :)

anyone else here got one?

Lovely girl. I know a guy who works his American Bulldogs, they are doing really well (but not as well as the German Shepherds yet, mwahahahahahaha! :p) but joking aside, they are clever and versatile and a pity so many people only get them as status dogs.
 
I love her name! Don't see many of them about, there is one near me though, see himout and a bout a fair bit, seems a nice dog although recently I have noticed he is now muzzled so i don't know if something's happened, would be a shame.
 
thanks everyone! we got her as an 8 month old from my other halfs brother down in newcastle... they are responsible for her name... which i think suits her down to the ground!

i dont see her as being very big... but thats just because im used to her! she's only about the same height as a small lab, but is built like a bull! :D she's a lovely dog, but not good with other dogs- which i suspect is why the ab you know Ladyt25 may be muzzled. betty was great with other dogs until she reached 17 months- and became extremely dominant over other dogs! :rolleyes: she adores people and children, so in that respect i couldnt be happier!

cavecanem: whats his name? im on an american bulldog forum- might know him from there?! they are great dogs as long as they are handled and brought up right- but get a bit of a bad press!

dobiegirl: yeah i know! its a cracking shot- im just gutted i had to use my phone to take it, as my camera died on me!

You may be right re other odgs although this particular one has not been muzzled before and must be a fair few years old now and is often walked with the neighbours dogs (a husky). I guess it may have gone for some other dog though and they are just taking precautions which is sensible.
