Hi, I have a 4yr old Dutch Warmblood mare who was broken 5 months ago and is doing very well on the flat, getting 65% in prelim dressage. I am wanting to introduce her to jumping but would like some advice about how to approach this sensibly.
I have had her over trotting poles and a tiny cross pole which she took in her stride nicely.
I have experience in jumping as i currently compete my 12yr old DW BSJA.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks. Cat

hey cat. i'm in the middle of starting sjing with my 4 year old (he was broken in february). basically have been working around little courses (so he gets used to having to change direction and leg etc) but keeping it really small...so he can go from trot or canter. he could dfeinitely jump bigger but i want him to be manouvrable (sp?) not just jumping one huge fence! have also been introducing fillers- first have them at the side of the jump and then gradually move them together til jumping over them. again, keeping it small til he is totally happy before we will try going any bigger with things....

Hey, thanks for your reply. I will definately start samll and introduce her to a small course like you said, think she will take it all in her stride. Thanks again for the advice and your horses look lovely
