I know the feeling re: saddle. Could not get Gypsum's saddle to fit Foinavon for love nor money, so after much faff, bought him his own. It should arrive in the post today. It would have been so nice and saved me so much money if I'd been able to use the old one, but that's horses!

Thanks everyone. He was golden last night, I long reined him round the yard buildings in the wind and drizzle and he was brilliant, so well behaved, I bet he wonders why he's not being ridden.

Initially I was going to take him off haylage eventually by weaning him over gradually to hay but I think I might just keep him on it and mix it with the hay. If I buy one bale of Marksway haylage a week it won't break the bank and maybe I can just leave hay out in the paddock in the winter as he will be used to that by then. I really like the haylage, its lovely.

A new saddle has now been ordered after my friends Wintec GP and Thorowgood T6 didn't fit. Bless the saddle fitter, she was good coming back a second time to see if they would fit as I'd forgotten about them both the day before when we'd tried my two and my friends two on him. She has ordered me a new Wintec High Wither GP so I'm hoping that will be the one that fits!

And I will have to try and put my two saddles up for sale although I really struggled to sell the Isabell dressage saddle the year before last and it had only been used a dozen times, maybe I will have better luck this time.

really, really pleased for you, he sounds just right for you.. might be a bonus not having a saddle as you can get to know him on the ground and long reining will give you a feel of how he goes..looking forward to lots more photos and updates:)
