Hi anyone got any good advice for us?

Had our first BT since feb last year, love her to bits, she adores contact with other dogs so thought we should get another BT as a pal for her.

New pup is also gorgeous, but much more outgoing than the older one, (and more vocal!), she's started nipping the older one and jumping up with front feet. Older girl being a bit submissive cant get any from the unwanted attention and looks really sad.

Appricate that she's been confined because little one isn't jabbed yet and her routine has changed so much, but we're doubting we've done the right thing now!!

Decided we'll give it a month to see if they get on better, then at least they can both go out for walks together, but also feel if we take away the pup she'll be sad anyway.

Cant do right for doing wrong!!

Make sure the older dog can get away from the younger ones attention when she's had enough (our Labs used to slip upstairs when they tired of Oz (JRT) when he was a pup). Oz also had a crate, he went in when I went out, so he could see the girls, but not keep on at them. The young is bound to be OTT as is still a young pup, but will calm down, plus as the pup gets older you will probably find that the older dog stops being so submissive and will start putting it in its place.

Thanks for the post Donut ~ I am experiencing exactly the same thing ! My puppy is 15 weeks old and my Mum looks after her when I work. Mum has an 8 year old dog and my puppy leaps all over him. He keeps yapping at her to stop, she then yaps back and does it even more. She is playing a game with him.... am just hoping they do settle eventually. We take the older dog away when we think he's had enough. Don't know what else to do .... any ideas ??? I don't want my Mum to not want to look after my pup.......

thanks piebald eater, and hi happy bird.

Sware the dogs are harder than the horses to look after - wouldn't ever want to be without though!!

OH has just text saying Sol the older one has just growled at pup, (hurrah) then thought she'd done wrong and snook off (boo), so maybe getting there a bit, 2nd jabs are next weds, so just couple of weeks before they can get out into the field - really hoping that will settle them down a bit.
