On Sunday, we did our first working cob class - first one for both of us, I have never done a working hunter class before - Trailblazers are allowing hairies to compete in this class.

Well, as you can see from the proofs (I am going to be buying the lot now), he rather enjoyed himself and I managed to stay on as well. He only started jumping in October and I have not jumped in five years so still early days.

Hopefully with a lot of work (mainly on me) he will be able to go round a 2'9 - 3' course by the end of August for the BSPA working cob. The Trailblazers are nice people, and the height for their WC is 2'3.

The first fence - I am bricking it

He came 2nd, he would have won, but I screwed up in our show and he wrong legged canter.

He did go on to win the traditional coloured class, so a great start to our season as we are now set for Royal London and through to the 2nd round of trailblazers.

Rather a change from this time last year when we were starting out our ridden showing career. He is finally starting to chunk out as he will be six in July and turning out to be all I could have dreamt of. I am so glad I fell in love with a pair of kind brown eyes.

Well done Mrs! and Stinky of course, 2nd is a fantastic result for your first WH class and its good to hear that the hairies coblets are doing well in these WH classes, there built for the job!

Lovely pics too.

I had planned to this year, but missed autumn hunting as ground was too hard, then we have had the bad weather and I am now about to start showing again, so I may now try to get out next year, plus I will be more confident at the jumps as I now know that he can do it and it is me holding him back.

I think he would be great hunting as he is sensible, does not heat up or tank off but at the same time has plenty of go when asked.

Well done to the both of you, you look fab together.

Question now?? So is it ok to enter hairy's in working classes as i was worried i would be expected to de-hair and i can't bare the thought of hogging and tail pulling or removing my boy's lovely fluffy feathers?

Normally working cobs is those with crew cuts, but Trailblazers are permitting hairies as well in their working cob classes, and I am having a go at this class this year so something for us to do other than coloureds.

Some working cobs do allow hairies but you need to check first.

Yes this was at Keysoe on Sunday.
