He is terrified, poor wee mite! He is nearly 5 months old and has never left the place he was born, been in a car or a house, so today has all been a bit much for him!

But he has found his crate, and is fast asleep, so hopefully he will come out of his shell a bit more tomorrow when he is settled.

It took us three hours to get home, he was shaking the whole way, but he didn't move and he wasn't sick, so it wasn't too bad.

No names as yet, any suggestions welcome, but it has to be something a bit different!

Awwwwwww, HUGE ahhhh factor

He is gorgeous, you are so lucky

I thought he was going to be Arnold? I thought that was a cool name
grin.gif
He looks like an Arnold
smile.gif

Dont worry, he will soon settle in to his new home and routine, it is worse with rescues as it takes them about 6 months, but I bet he is bouncing around in no time

I want a puppy now

Well it was going to be Arnold, but I'm not sure now! They didn't give him a namebecause once their animals are named they stay, so they called him Span, I can see us having to call him Stan, because he won't come to anything else!

I'm so glad we managed to borrow a crate, he has decided that is DEFINATELY his room, and he isn't coming out for anyone!

He piddled all the way round the house when he first came in, it was nerves rather than going to the toilet. I had already stood outside for ages with him, but he was rooted to the spot!
He has already worked out how to walk on laminate flooring too!

I knew the second he launched himself out the stable he would be coming home with us! The owner had a few nice welsh cobs (including a STUNNING stallion!) that I wouldn't of minded nicking too!
grin.gif

I think he is just majorly overwhelmed, he has stopped shaking and wags his tail whenever I speak to him. It's almost like he has decided that he isn't allowed to leave his crate!

My Mum suggested Baxter, but all I could think of was soup!

Oh bless him, every time I look at the first picture of his little face I just melt
smile.gif
My ex-BF had a litter of cockers which were quite similar in temperament (he kept them outside) and I was quite worried about them, but once they went to new homes they just blossomed like X will do

Stan is quite a sweet name really

Poor little guy, he does look worried. I always get quite angry when I hear of breeders who keep pups until they are older and don't socialise them, just makes it harder for the new owners. They obviously don't have children, all my pups used to be named within hours of birth by the kids, mind you Fluffy was not the best of names for a GSD
wink.gif
Sounds like he is going to take time to get his confidence but as long as you give him a bit of space he will soon come round I am sure. Can't really think of any suitable names but sure inspiration will come to you soon. You could always be topical and call him Lewis
smile.gif

He is going to be Otto. It really suits him, he is a bit otter-like!

He is a completely different puppy today, belting round the house, playing with his toys
grin.gif
Had an accident in his crate this morning when I had to leave him to go to the yard, but he wasn't howling when I got home and that's what I was really concerned about!

He wasn't supposed to be kept, people kept enquiring about him and then never turning up. He is at least well used to other dogs, farm animals and horses, plus hundreds of visitors!
grin.gif

I like Otto, suits him. Glad he is coming out of himself, bet he is loving all the attention. You'll soon be looking back wistfully at the quiet little puppy who stayed in his cage
grin.gif

He has already started his gundog training
grin.gif
He went outside for a toilet break and the duck appeared, I just called him and he came straight over, was very interested in the ducks, but stuck with me and came in the house
grin.gif

The chew bone is currently being destroyed

The shell has well and truely been discarded

Oh, that first picture just makes me want to do a grab and run.

They don't sound like a bad breeder letting him get used to farm-life and visitors, and if he's already settling they must have done something right with the temperament and socializing-bit. But I still admit to thinking : 5 months and never been in a car or a house, who did they expect was going to buy him, a wanderer with a tent?
Sounds like he does have a fabulous temperament though, very understandable grin on your smileys.

He has just ome back from the vet's, he was soooooo brave
grin.gif
He his first jab and a HUGE needle for the microchip and he didn't even make a tiny squeak! Sat on my knee in the vet's not bothered about the other dogs
grin.gif
We are going to look into doing some obidience classes so he can do a bit of socialising.

He travelled much better tonight, was still unsure, but not trembling!

Vet said he had a good strong heart
grin.gif
He weighs 18kg
crazy.gif
He is going to be a BIG dog!!!
shocked.gif
He already weighs more than my Mum's dogs, but he definately isn't fat!

He has now been wormed, no problems, wolfed the tablet down because he was anticipating a biscuit
grin.gif
and got some flea spot-on stuff to do tomorrow.

So in three weeks time he can start going out and about! His first walk will be on my birthday
grin.gif

He is now curled up next to me, falling asleep on his duck. He is definately 'my' dog, he was sat on my feet whilt I was cooking dinner, and he is literally at my feet every step I take!

Oooops, sorry for rambling on
blush.gif
can you tell I'm smitten
grin.gif

Not met the ponies yet, he's got to wait three weeks vbefore he can go adventuring!!! He is far too heavy for me to be carrying around!
The Cow has been told he has another little brother, I think he will be relieved when he sees it is a dog and not another pony!

He is a right houdini, somehow he managed to escape from his crate this morning, he has demolished my bedroom! Everything tht was on the bed is on the floor and everything that was on the floor is on the bed! He had peed on my OH's side of the bed and then managed to get himself wedged under the bed!
mad.gif
Naughty pup! Then he was soooo relieved to see me, he fetched me a towel, only problem being it was under his water bowl!
crazy.gif

Then he kept appearing with Bonio's, at first I thought it must have been the one I gave him this morning, but no, the little sod has found the stash!
mad.gif

He is keeping me very entertained

Sounds like :

Though I'm not amused to find pee in my bed ( and since mother's puppy figured out how to get up in the bed before my puppy, and then couldn't get down in time before the accident, becose my puppy now worked as a big block in her way down, we've recently had a few ), but hearing about all the rest gives me a big smile to.

Well luckily he had removed the duvet before peeing, and we have so many matress protectors on the bed, that it didn't soak through to the matress. Just got lots of sheets to wash now, and of course, puppy wants to help!

He just met the goat, big wussy pup hid behind me!
grin.gif
Then he felt brave enough to think about chasing the chicken, but I called him and he came toddling back! Bless him, he certainly is going from one extreme to another!
