Myself and my fellow companion Lady, I'm new'ish to the forum i used to lurk on my old account but it seemed to have gone so made a new one.
Some of you may know me from another forum some of you wont, for those that dont here's a run down about Lady.
I got Lady 3 1/2 yrs ago, rescued her from a rescue in a bit of a poor condition.
She was then 12yrs old, and what i thought at the time as a dream mare.
Oh did i let myself in for a shock, Lady had a nack of bloting and dragging me around the yard but with a bit of time and ground work i sorted out that little problem. Few weeks later she started to barge out of her stable, so desided to place a stall guard up which did its job.
After a few hiccup's she soon become more relaxed and easy to handle from the ground, Lady hadnt been ridden for a good 18month's before i got her so slowly worked in (lunging, pessoa, freeschooling) for aleast two weeks before desiding to tack her up and start the harder work.
I soon began to notice that as lady got fitter the stronger she became, so changing tack and having her teeth and back checked just to make sure none of this was the reason for her strength. We found something that suited her when schooled, hacked and jumped, after having Lady at the same yard for two years i desided it was time to move on to a bigger better yard where i could acheve the goals i knew Lady could do.
Within the first 3 months of being at the new yard we did our first showjumping, which didnt go to plan at all. Lady ran at the jumping like a bullet out of a gun, it was a nightmare. I honestly though we would never do that again, but after lots of help from the yard i was at Lady was jumping like a star.
So we tried again this time it was my fault i forgot the course half way through, and lost my way. luckly though i was entred for the next class so could try again, and got all the way round with on fence down, i was beaming as Lady worked so well.
Two weeks later and another show came up, so off we went, she jumped brill and we got a 5th, and the next class we got a 4th.
Not long after that though Lady got a huge swelling in her back leg, it we 10x the size it should have been. So vet was called out to find out Lady had a infection so painkillers and anti b's was given, she was on box rest for a least two weeks which thn put a stop to the showing.
So i desided to let her have the full winter off, about half way though winter and
things become very unwelcoming at the yard so desided to move again.
Which didnt go to well either, ive always managed to travel lady in a box but this time i could only gt a trailer which while been with me has never been in on.
Would she load would she heck, i point blank refused put to a point where she broke free from me and ran to another horse who is known for not getting on with other horses. His owner come running over to help as didnt want me or Lady getting hurt, as she got to us her horse swung out pushing his owner over now bare in mind that the yard hadnt de'iced the yard at all so there was ice patched in places. The poor woman managed to also slip on a ice patch, at the time we thought she had broke her thigh bone.
She got rushed to hospital, and lucky on had some very deep bruising.
In the end i used a chiffny even though i just dont like them but it got her loaded, and off we went to the new place, it took a while for lady to settle in but soon got there.
Now that the weather is changing ive started to Bring lady back into work, and as expected she's doing very well, in fact she's doing better than well as i think the holiday has done her the world of good.
I'll post some pic's of her from over the time ive had her soon, think all this typing is enough for now lol
