Intuitive communication

We all dream to be able to communicate with our horses by intuition.
It is possible to know exactly what a horse thinks, how he feels, and his emotions.
Everyone will learn by their own personal experiences, but there are still a few basic steps for everyone to try.

To start, I will choose the right environment, where the horse is relaxed and comfortable. The stable is often a very good place to begin.
I will avoid any sources of distractions, wear comfortable closing, and switch my mobile phone off.

Enter the stable and stand in the corner away from the horse. I will not try to get in contact if I feel stressed, tired or if I have any negative feelings. In the same time, choose a moment when the horse feels calm and disposed. Avoid feeding time or when it is his normal exercise time.
It is important to stay Zen, only think of the “here and now”, not how it was or the end result. Breathe slowly and deeply, locate muscular tensions and relax them one by one. I like to close my eyes, others may keep them open, and everyone will find the best way to empty their mind.

I Stay positive, it is impossible to communicate if you do not believe it, you must be confident and believe in yourself (yes I will communicate, yes he has things to say, yes I will understand…). A good technique to achieve this is to have a phrase, a positive affirmation that corresponds to your needs with a constant notion of evolution. For example: “I want to communicate with my horse, and I achieve it better and better.” Repeat this phrase few times a day, in the evening before going to bed, in the morning when you wake up, do this for a week, a month or more, this will help getting a patient, open, respectful state of mind.

When it is time to enter into contact, I will start by observing the horse, to let the first impressions come in. If I don’t know the horse, I will present myself, maybe just by saying Hello; I will ask him permission to communicate. I will wait for him to accept. He will come to meet me, I will not try to touch him, let him check me over. When he is ready he will tell me. I will ask him questions specific to his problem. For example: Why are you difficult to catch, or why do you feel stressed. You can repeat the question a few times with the same words, talk to him like he understand everything you say, tell him how you feel about his attitude.

Now it is vital to listen, be like a sponge, let the emotions, the words, the smells… come to you, even if it is only an impression. Do not judge; do not try to come to conclusions. You must let go of the tendency that consist of following a logical reasoning or trying to get a correct response, try not to project your own ideas. The horse is not a human, therefore he will not see things exactly like us, but you must have a lot of empathy.

During the session try to write everything down, date, place, also anything that goes through your mind, do not leave anything out, and do so without thinking or correcting anything. At the end of the session take note of your impressions, your success and also the defeats. If nothing has happened write it down. When you will read it at a later time, something that had no meaning at the time will do the next day. It will also help you when you re-start a conversation.

Finally after 15-20 minutes, it is very important that you thank your horse, show some gratitude, some acknowledgement for giving his attention.
Observe his attitude; has he changed? If you haven’t succeeded, don’t give up, do not get frustrated, try again later.

Be happy for just being there with your horse, next to him, here and now without asking anything.

These are only basic steps that will help you to understand and communicate with your horse. Remember your attitude will play a vital role in the well being of your favourite companion.

This is intesting. As I have a animal commcution person too. Like you say it's not going to work unless in belive in it. The very first treatment I had done I tried to write it all down it was just too much as I was in a entiomtal mess!! I still got the bit of paper with it all down and the things I wrote down has happern over time!! As Im am a Reiki pract I have felt some of his problems whist doing treatments Ive havnt atcually seen any in vistasion which is probly a good thing as his pastd wasnt good at all.

I like to think that any relationship with a horse is intuitive. The horse is a creature of high emotional intelligence and you have to communicate with them and read and understand them to work in any sort of partnership.

I believe people drawn to horses do have natural intuition and the response by horses who also intuitively know who understands them is how the bonds and relationships are built.

I have 8 horses and have 8 different relationships with each one and these relationships are built on understanding, by asking questions and listening to the answers to the extent that I can pretty much predict what each of my horses will do in a given situation and how to help them cope with it.

Every horse owner can vouch of spending hours in a stable with a horse to seek comfort from them, to grieve into their manes and to ask questions of them and understanding does come. In all of their actions horses tell us daily what is on their minds by the twitch of an ear, the wrinkle of a nostril, a dull or sparkly look in the eye and horse owners once a bond is built with their horse just "know".

It is by no means esoteric or mysterious, it comes from a love of horses and the deep bonds we build with them.

I suppose I am awkwardly trying to express is that it is something that comes naturally to a good deal of horse owners which is why they are drawn to horses in the first place.

Interesting post and welcome to the board

I have just finished reading Amelia Kinkade's book and am going to start the exercises just as soon as the girls go back to school and I can get some quiet time. It is a wonderful thing to be able to really understand what your animals are thinking and to be able to help them. Just imagine a world where there are no problem horses because owners can literally go straight to the horse to find out what the problem is.

The thing is in my opinon there is no such thing as a problem horse as it's the people that cause's most of the problems due to the horse being mistreatd or misunderstood. Look at it this way you got a horse that's is very proctives in his stable whist eating or having it's rug done up most of the time it's due to the fact that food havs been poor etc rugging up and bitting could be like going roundin a circle, horse protecting their self from being told off or being hit etc so will be showing theses signs.

My boy was classd as a 'problem horse' all down to the way he protecd himself from people that abused him in the pastd! He is now a complety different boy and I have learnt a lot from him and still learning eveyday!!

It would be nice if other people would understand their horses more and stop being misunderstood then we would have a lot more happy horse's around.

There's always a reason behide why they do things not because they are naugthy!!

Where's there's a will there's a way forward!

I agree with irishlife, it is an interesting post, and thank you for posting it.

Intuitive animal communication certainly does take practice and a "no questions or doubts, just throw yourself in" approach.

I have lost count of the times I have laughed out loud when somebody tells me in detail how their horse feels about something, what their opinion is on X Y and Z and how they just know that he is uncomfortable and its time for a new saddle, and then they say to me "I wish I could communicate with him!" Horses are so much more perceptive than us humans, that if this is the level of detail the human is getting from the horse, just imagine how much the horse already knows from them!

I strongly believe most of us are already intuitive with our horses to some level, and that learning it and improving our skills is something which is open to all.

I have laughd out too when people who didnt listern to advice and enden up on the floor though not listening to what their horse is trying to say to them I mean by the way the horse act like whistd being ridden or just being pushed too far too soon!! If people realise how draining it is doing a treatment etc they wouldnt want to be able to do it all the time well this is my opinion. The stuff that comes though isnt all good! I'll happy with the lady I've got for my horse and if I didn't have her I wouldnt know his saddle didnt fit or that his back was in a complety mess even though i had these's done on a reguary rountine. A couple of weeks after saddler came he had his first treatment I was shockd to find out that I put so much trust in the saddler for only it not to be the corret fit!!

Years of going round in a circle and ending up on the floor on many occasions all down to this! Yes we all have bonds and understanding our horse's all in different ways.
