Basically, it really gets my goat when people assume that becasue you own a warmblood you must be up your own arse...(I am not going to say look down on others, of course we do...warmbloods tend to be quite big)
Anyway, I own Bruce (My warmblood) because
1. He gave me my confidence back
2. He is a dude
3. He was dead cheap (bought him from a friend)
4. His temprament suits my temprament
5. We Gelled
6. His ability suits my ability
7. His trainability suits my trainability
If he was a heiinz 57, a Cob (perish the thought, owning a warmblood makes you a snob by default, apparently) or a tb, I would have bought him too.
I cannot abide the assumption that becasue I own the horse I do, I look down on people (or I am far richer, and bought him as a status symbol. This in NOT the case)
I would also like to add that when riding the level of riding you are at is a factor in the horse you own. My best friend owns a gorgeous ConnemaraxID who she has taken to elementary level affiliated (and wins time after time) however she is now looking at Warmbloods to take her up to the next level and beyond as the hairy grey thing just cant cope with the more advanced lateral work. Does that make her a snob? Or someone that wants to own a horse to compete to the ability she is capeable of?
I would like to also say that if my cob jumped 1.20's all day for fun I would never have sold him, but he was happy at 1m and anything more was not fair on him.
Grrrrrrrrrrr
ETS I have met some pretty talented non wb horses too, a few tb's but they are as highly strung as me and sometimes that can be a recipe for disaster.
