Invested in a 'POLITE' Tabard...

I have this one "PLEASE PASS WIDE AND SLOW"and it does work BUT I get comments "iIS THAT YOU OR THE HORSE"?!!

The other one that is available is young horse (thats slows them down)

I have noticed a huge difference since I have been wearing mine. I also have a blue hat and reflective hat band, and wear black jods and boots which all adds to the effect. Add on my dark blue BP which looks like a police vest ...

I regularly have to wave cars past now as they stop rather than wizzing past. I also have to ride across a busy road to get to a competition centre - and all I need to do is put my hand up and the traffic stops - result!! I need to be careful I am not arrested for impersonating a police officer!!

They are fab!

He he. I got one a couple of weeks ago and the difference in drivers is amazing. In fact I had one guy who just wouldn't come past!! He was crawling along way way behind us, I had to wave him on in the end. My friend said he must have been on the wanted list!! :D

I got mine a few months ago and have the same reaction from some people. I was tempted to get the matching leg bands and exercise sheet for Mr B but since he is a 16.1 dark bay WB i guess he might look too much like a police horse.....mind you in my various colours of riding wear i won't look much like a police woman!

Is it approved by the police, ie you won't get into trouble for wearing it???

Think I may invest in the tabard and the hat band. Having a big black horse to ride, they may think I am a mounted police person, admittedly in the middle of the country ;-)

I've got one - makes a real difference and it has a handy zip pocket big enough for my iphone so no more forcing it into a jody pocket - and it only cost me £13 from my local feed merchants - bargin!

I've got one of these: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Ex-Police-Hi-Viz-Lightweight-Motorcycle-Bomber-Jacket-S-/310320514197?pt=UK_Collectables_Memorabila_RL&hash=item48408b4495#ht_2484wt_922
Perfectly legal, as long as the badging is removed. Tried it a few times and had great success. My horse is v v v good in traffic - one of our regular hacking routes goes under, over and alongside (with only a post and rail separating the road and the path) the M9, so he has to be. He also has the looks of a police horse ;) However, was out on said route a month or so ago, wearing the jacket and all my other hi-viz. Got to the stretch where the path runs parallel with the motorway, when some idiot boy racers sped past. They'd obviously seen us from a distance and noticed that my horse was completely ignoring cars going by at 80mph+. So what did they do? Put their hand on the horn and held it there. little gits. Luckily my boy was solid as ever (as I knew he would be). Best revenge was trusting him enough to momentarily completely drop both reins - just to make sure I could respond with both hands you understand ;)

My point is, if these goons will try that on with someone they believe to be a police officer (they'd have no reason to see otherwise, they were going so fast). What chance do the rest of us mere mortals have?

I've been thinking about getting one for ages as it would look great on my 16.3 bay.

I do worry that if we meet something big (milk tanker, tractor trailer etc) they would think police and then carry on coming as police horses wouldn't bat an eyelid whereas in my plain hi viz they stop as the expect a "normal" horse to be wary.

these look fab, i saw a rider wearing one the other day. I was going nice and slow past but it really made me look :)

I saw two ladies riding in these as I was driving an unmarked Police car round the Blidworth area.
I love them, you could see the cars slowing down as they saw the riders, they even made me look twice.
