Basically I have tried for the past few months to get the ownership in my pony's passport changed to my name. I bought him from a lady who had brought him over from Ireland 2yrs ago, his ownership is still recorded in his passport as his breeder. I have tried over the past few months to contact his breeder in order to get a signature so I can transfer the ownership over to my name, but have had no luck. Has anyone been in a similar situation?

It is not usually a problem, send the passport with a copy of your receipt from the purchase and a letter explaining the situation and they should transfer to you, it will not be the first time this has happened.

I had the same problem last year and just sent a photo copy of the receipt from who I bought him off.

Not sure what you would do if you don't have a receipt best thing to do would probably be to ring the society. I emailed the I think secretary of the british connemara society as was registering him with them from an irish passport and she was really helpful with explaining what to do.

When I bought mine, he had a full green ISH passport but his owner had not changed his owners details and she had had him for 2 years. I emailed the ISH society to check what I needed to, sent a copy of the receipt and passport and that was that. No one questioned as to why the name on the receipt was not than on the passport but maybe that is because a passport is not a legal document in terms of demonstrating ownership.

Just had the same with mine but with British driving society passport. Two previous owners had never changed and still in breeders name. I just contacted them and asked what to do. All I had to do was explain what had happened previously and they have changed it with out a problem. hope it's as easy as that for you.

I did the same last year to change green passport from breeder to me and didn't even have to include receipt. Kind of makes a mockery of bothering doesn't it
