I am showing a 2yo pure ID in hand. How much trimming can I do? While in theory the heels are to be shown in a 'natural' state, I understand that lot of people trim them to almost nothing. I would really like to do that! Advice please from RID people

If you want to do the hunter classes as well then trimmed completely. I dont recall ever having seen an RID with feather in the ring but cant say ive paid that much attention to them

Babies should be left au natural really. Just have he or she neat and tidy and clean of course. At two you should plait the mane.

According the the breed guidelines IDs can be shown with feather but I've never seen the ridden classes turned out like this. Everyone turns out as for hunters e.g. trimmed.

Trim if you have loads of quality bone, if you are light on bone or coarse go careful with trimming on the cannon bones. No feathery ankles on either is how I turn them out.

Plaited mane and pulled tail, no hairy chins and don't overdo the bridle path or trim the wither to excess or you can shorten the neck and give the wrong look to front end confo. Tail should be hock level when on the move.
