hi everyone I just little confused I saw on facebook horsy group a lot of people were calling a sport Horse with mostly Irish draught with very little TB, no Warmblood a irish draught sport horse or a part breed Irish draught. Wouldn’t these horses be considered a non traditional Irish sport horse.

A traditional Irish sport horse would be one that is ID crossed with TB (in whatever percentage), or sometimes with a Connemara. The more modern ISH type is often ID/TB crossed with WB, or sometimes WB X TB, which would technically be a modern WB bred in Ireland and papered as an Irish sporthorse.

My boy is an ID X and I would say he was a part bred ID. I don't think he has any TB in him: although his dam is listed as unknown, he is probably crossed with a connie, looking at him.

I don't know what would be wrong with calling him a part bred Irish Draught?

TBH, I wouldn't necessarily call him an Irish Sport, as he is more built for comfort than sport ?. I see an Irish Sport as having some TB.

I am dubious of these WB X types being called an Ish, just because they were born in Ireland. I guess that is the modern Irish Sport though. My heart Horse Jay was Ish, on a green passport, but by Hermes De Reve. Very pretty but hardly a traditional looking Irish - I would more say he looks like a warmblood!

I have an Irish something. Her sire is a registered ID and her Mum was unregistered and who knows what is in there tbh! She could be an IDSH as there is definitely some TB or Connie in there, something lighter than a draught breed F4DF1829-2374-4A8F-9D4A-3E093394F62F.jpeg332971FD-2205-462D-948A-D04AB5D0FBC7.jpeg19ED6283-53F1-4E3E-BA17-8B6C36320739.jpegCAE9BD07-A9B2-49C8-A019-B75342AA883F.jpeg

I think any 50% Irish draught are considered sports horses according to the Irish sports horse passports.
Mine is is draught/connemara (also eligible for a connemara passport) and has green Irish sports horse passport.
