Hi, I am looking for youngster to bring on alongside my older horse. I want something robustly built but athletic enough to be a good, competitive all rounder. I don't have a huge budget but have been looking at ID, ID X Or shire X
I have just started looking but was hoping you good people could point me in the direction of places to look, bloodlines to look for.

I have seen one that may fit the bill but would gladly take people's advice as whilst I have worked with other people's youngsters at work this will be the first one I have bought for myself

Thank you in advance, left over Easter eggs to share

Bargain and nice.

Have a look on the Irish Draught (GB) website.

Yep, thanks. I can use a second opinion as youngsters can turn out so different to what you expect and I'm not hot on my irish breeding

I have two RID's and love them .
However they are the ones for MrGS not me .
They are the ultimate gents all rounders and I like the one whose details you linked .
If you are a woman be realistic when you view it about how big and wide and how much horse it's going to be when it's mature .

I had a shire x tb as my 1st horse (as a grown up) and I am looking for something chunky. I am a woman and 5ft 6 but I'm currently 12 1/2 stone ( I'm on a diet and it's heading in the right direction but progress isn't as fast as I would like) normally I'm around the 10st mark. Point being I'm no light weight :/
I was originally looking for part breds, ( and still am) I just haven't seen one I like that has enough bone and quality. Ok I lie I have just not in my budget

I know someone who has a really cracking ID x TB 4 year old gelding for sale; well handled but unbroken. If you want a pic and more details do PM me.

I also have a nice just two year old gelding, same applies as don't want my wrists slapped, lol!

No good asking IDHS(GB) - he's unknown to us. Presumably bred in Ireland. I'd be wondering why he's quite so cheap!

I meant have a look on IDHS (GB) for other horses not the one in the advert. Or contact you for a nice one !

Possibly cheap as not by a popular or well known sire and East Yorkshire is a fair trip for many.

Yes please, a 2yr old might be a little bit too young.

He was bred in Ireland yes so not born over here. I have seen quite a few 3yr olds at around the same price, a chestnut one on the IDHS GB classifieds they even have a 6yr old for 2K. Have seen some nice enough 4 yr olds broken in for 3 - 3.5K. I appreciate how much it costs to breed a horse and get it to a 3 yr old and I know it's not fair but is he way underpriced? Enough to ring alarm bells?

I bought a nice one in December to train for MrGS for less than half what he would have cost last time I looked .
I got the feeling thinks are not great in Ireland and the full breds are certainly coming over cheaper than they where .
I found several nice four and five year olds that where very very good value when I was looking .
I really like the one I bought he's a very nice boy .
