Just wondered how many ID owners, breeders and enthusiasts use the H&H forum. Would also love to see piccies of your IDs. I'm not just nosey - honest! I just never tire of looking at horses and in particular IDs.

i love irish drafts. jack the horse in my sig is a pure breed, i used to groom for a irish draft and ish breeder and had the pleasure to groom for the late snowford harebell who's the dame of ID stallion snowford bellman. shame theres so few pure breeds around thou
 
I have a RID Mare: Glayva Queen. Sire: Snowford Bellman and Dam: Carrigallen Queen. Her grandad was Banks Fee Daniel and I am always getting comments on how beautiful she is. I will try and put some photos up for you. They are a lovely breed

Mine was an IDxTB and he was the best horse I ever had! Def my horse of a lifetime. Charlie could never be replaced! Up until I got him I was a sec d gal but Charlie changed all that!
Funny thing is I developed a love for the ID side of him but not TB's??
 
I have a 3/4 bred ID mare, she is by a stallion called Tara's Flight x King of Diamonds, I have a foal due by Hillview Farm Milligan x Raikish Paddy. My mum looked after and handled Bantry Pearl, a beautiful old HIS stallion (RID) and another RID called Springfield Prince. I think Bantry was what made me love the ID, they are truly the most versatile and sane creature. This is my mare.

Meeee! They are the best! Have a wonderful 20yr old ID mare who I got as a 5 yr old and took me from being the most nervous jumper to hunting and team chasing.
My girl is by Snowford Stoker but not many people have heard of him cos he died very young

. His dam was Harepark Pink who was also the dam of Snowford Harebell. So our two are related D_D. No photos here at work, sorry!
 
We had a pure ID mare who was by King of Diamonds (dam's line was Pride of Shaunlara I think). She was the spitting image of her sire in every way and competed to grade A SJ. She went on to breed a few nice eventers to TB sires when she retired from competition. She was a very special horse, and I'd have one again in a second.

I still have her grandson by Armani First (Seacrest) and her youngest daughter by Sir Rivie, and I also have a Flagmount/Euphemism gelding who is just the business. I like the purebreds best, providing they have enough quality about them. Don't mind IDxTBs but have to wonder about IDxWBs, though thankfully they aren't doing so many of them these days.
 
That's sad about your old mare. There can't be many immediate children of King of Diamonds still around. Sounds like you have lovely progeny from her though.

Jim (Snowford Sunny Jim) is a purebred gelding. Thanks for the excuse to post some pics of him!

The last pic is a couple of years older but is the nearest I have to a conformation shot.

When I was a kid I had a pony at Snowford & can remember Harebell, Stoker (aka Manny) & Harepark Pink (aka Kelly) - all lovely horses.
 
I know I'm going against the flow here....but I've never ridden a pleasant ID x TB (and I've ridden a few).
All the sh1ttiest riding accidents I've had, have been on these horses - they are as strong as oxes, and seem to inherit the ID mule temperament, rather than the TB generosity.

This is our 2 yr old, taken as a yearling, she is pure bred out of Grizzle RID (Cork Arthur ) by Silver Jasper RID (obtained via frozen semen as he has been dead a number of years.

This is our 5 year old taken at the end of last year as she began her hacking out (OH rides her as she is humongous)
Again, out of Grizzle by Huntingfield Heathcliff who is now in Ireland.

I don't have an ID but have known people who have & I adore them. They are such 'proper' horses & very genuine, they just have something about them. Really are lovely & I'd love to have one but I'd look like a pea on a drum!!

I like the traditional ID's, the lovely, quite thickset greys. They really are stunning.
 
ID's don't have a mule temperament, some of them just need treating as individuals

Jim is very generous as long as you say please, thank you & keep your side of the deal BUT if you have to lay the law down (& sometimes it really is necessary because he can be a bossy sod!) then you'd better be very very sure of your ground. At that point a mule would probably be a bloody sight easier ....
 
My ID/TB is a dude. Hes by Caledonian Bay TB out of Embla Poppy ID. Hes called Henry. Bred by the Rushton Stud.Hes such a star, maybe a bit porky atm tho! [image]http://hen 047[/image] .
 
I have a lovely ID quite unusual colour too!! - he is lovely chappy a young 7/8 but coming on nicely!! I am a very lucky person!!!

Daddy is banks fee daniel, such a sad loss of a wonderful stallion, temperament was second to none...although some frozen still left I believe.....

No laughing at these links from last week, first dressage for him and pretty much for me, we are jumping people!!

good god, nicest horses i have ridden are ID and ID X's, couldnt choose anything else!! I prefer a lighter horse usually but after my latest one, would always go this route again, so much politer and whilst not loads of brain, very honest and genuine.
