Hi.
I have been looking on the net for info about taking my test to be officially legal to tow a horsebox. Have only found bits of info. Since my licence was issued after 1990 I have to take a test for this. I don't know anyone who's taken the test. anyone got any insight? Have you taken it? Do you know where I can find an instructor? Do you have to own your own box for the test? Any info much appreciated.

You first need to apply for a provisional EB licence which you need to hold for 6 months before you can take your test. I have my provisional and am going to get a couple of lessons before my test and use the driving school 4x4 and trailer (it's a low one not a horse box) for the test. If you are in kildare I can recommend the driving school a friend used recently before doing her test.

Thanks for the info. I'm not in Kildare but I'm not far from the N7 Naas road so it'd definitely be do-able. Please PM with details. Thanks!!!!!!!!!!

It's in Naas so not too far from you, my friends on holiday this week so I'll PM you next week when she's back as I can't remember the name of the school
