So popped big lad to an unaffiliated at WL yesterday first time we have been anywhere and he was absolutely fantastic. We had 2 double clears and came 6th and 8th (against ponies we didn't stand much chance!) I've not had a day that good for a long time and I love that giant horse so much!

I'm going to register him with BS as soon as he's a bit fitter but he's won 90 Irish points and when I converted it it's around £670 which means he's out of fox.

I don't want to jump above 1.10 at the moment because I'm a wimp and he's an older gentleman so other than the amateur classes is there anything I can try and qualify for?

A pic because he's beautiful

What level did he gain the points at? Because I think if they've won them at 1.20m or above then you times their Irish SJ points x 9 but if they've got them at 1.10m or below then you x 3 to get the equivalent BS winnings. That's what BS told me when I enquired a few months ago. You will be able to do the amateur classes.
If he's not won his winnings at 1.20m or over then you will still be able to do Newcomers for a short time as he will have approx £270 actual and £270 notional. But if he's won them at 1.20m or over then he will have £810 actual and £810 notional according to what the BSJA told me.

Hope that helps a little! I was having the same issue because I'd got a recent import with 68 Irish SJ points, but thankfully she won them at 1.10m! So still eligible for newcomers for now! :)

Yeah that's right, he won some at 1.10 but mainly won them at 1.20 and 1.30 :( I was hoping he would still be in newcomers! I think I'll aim to qualify amateur second rounds, I just wondered if there was anything else to aim for (would I be eligible for any scope qualifiers?)
They should run special classes for dinosaur grade a's lol :D

He sounds like a superstar! :)

I'm honestly not sure when it comes to qualifiers , it might be worth giving British Showjumping a call or dropping them an email, they're the experts and am sure will be able to tell you exactly what classes and qualifiers you would be able to do :) good luck! X
