Hiya,

I attended a Irish Sport Horse & breeding seminar in Cahir, Tipperary last night. There was a big attendance and the panel included Teagasc, a internatioal showjumper from the Army Equitation School, UCD researchers and a TD. Topics for discussion included:

1. Factors influencing the sale price of young horses
2. Managing the brood mare in late pregnancy
3. International market requirements for performance horses.

I wrote up a review of the night, if anyones interested

I attended a similar seminar covering the same topics but Peter Leonard and Avril Doyle gave presentations aswell as the UCD researchers and Teagasc. It was very interesting and gave a good insight into irish horse breeding compared to the rest of europe. I also found the care of pregnant mares useful as my mare is in foal. I think they should have more of these seminars covering a wider range of subjects. The one I went to was very well attended, every seat was full and I'd estimate there was about 150 people at it.
