Irish Sport Horses?

I posted earlier about Warm bloods and was wondering what your thoughts were on the ISH, and how the "breed" compares to registered continental WB's.

I'm thinking the main differences are;

the ISH concept is relatively new compared to WB breeding in other countries

The Irish horse board are possible less strict on what is a ISH?

ISH are more directed towards SJ and eventing, rather than SJ and dressage?

Thoughts please??

I think the concept is definitely less strict, to me it appears anything that is Irish can be classed as ISH - eg the horse in my sig is reg'd as ISH!

My mare is an ISH, but she was dna typed to get her passport. I don't know how strict it is, but the horses i looked at were very typey.

In my (not huge) experience, there is not that much more variety within the 'ISH' than the 'WB'. We have one of each at home, and my WB mare is one end of the WB spectrum - being light/middle weight, 16hh and in a 6'3 rug with not much bone. Obviously, you get much chunkier WBs with loads of bone and wide chests etc. Our ISH is by a RID stallion out of an ISH mare, and is definatley on the chunkier end of that breed type - being 16.2 and a 6'9 rug, with over 11 inches of bone!
But then you get masses of variety in any breed, don't you? My arab is in an XW saddle, and is distinctly more solid than many, yet he is still a purebred and just as typey in his own way - just more polish/crabbett than egyptian.
Probably many ISH are bred more towards SJ and eventing than dressage but (going to be a bit controversial here!) is that because there is more emphasis on breeding an 'alrounder' rather than for a specific discipline?

ISH is a WB.

One of their current succesful sires, who is having a big influence on the breed - Cavailer Royale - is a..... Holsteiner.

My boy has an ISH passport, is out of a P2P mare and is by Cavalier Royale. The ISH type seems to be very different now compared to the Irish Hunter IDxTB type that is easily recognisable. LOL, anything goes...

Beau is a Belgian WB x ISH, so basically a warmblood I think!

I think the only difference between the two is ISH seem a bit more athletic jumping wise.

My boy is an ISH. His dam was an ISH too whose sire was Clover Hill and his sire was an ISH X Hannoverian (Furisto).

The IHB aren't strict at all on what an ISH really is... On Castle's passport it says he's an Irish Sports Horse and he's only 12.2hh!!!
