irish announce squad for europeans-eventing ireland news.14 riders in all .its a very long shortlist!any news on when our squad will be announced?

"Britain's senior selectors are due to announce the squad for the Fontainebleau European Championships in July following an unofficial final trial at Barbury"
In Eventing Magazine.

for GB? William, Mary, Tina. probably take a couple of rookies as well for team experience before WEG next year possiblly Francis, but here are a lot of possiblilities.....

any one like to hazard a guess about who will go?

Geoff Curran, Louise Lyons, Elizabeth Power, Sam Watson, Trish Ryan and Michael Ryan I'd say...

I should think Olli's place depends on a) his owners wishes (may prefer to go to Burghley) and whether the selectors will overlook some past er 'disagreements of opinion'. And Zara has nothing to take there really although doubtless she will be on the short list for the PR value.

and castlemouse I would agree with you, although there is sacha pemble to consider after luhmuhlen

and declan cullen has had very good performances recently on his stallion, 5th at braham? i think

But dont forget the politics of irish eventing

dont forget people like declan cullen and sara wardell have had a couple of good results lately.brian curran curnane is clearly a star of the future.very determined and ambitious.dont think kilkishen has done anything this year so how can he be picked.also how can mike ryans result at tatts be ignored.

if his owners agreed would it not be best to send a horse and rider in form regardless of past disputes. at the end of the day results are what counts.isnt it?

Yes but I think all the 'politics' are fading from the selection of teams now, well in eventing anyway.
I can only think of a couple of occasions were the politics have resulted in the wrong team being picked and that was with a particular team manger!
It appears, from the outside anyway, that the whole set up and system is much more professional now, and the results are also starting to improve.

I think the problem with Mike might be that time isn't on Old Roads side and that it may be more beneficial for Irish eventing long term to send a younger, more up-and-coming combination?!

Kilkishen has done very little this year, but think it was a shame he tied up at Tatts.

What about Austin? He has had a couple of good 4* results with PR.

Declan's results all at CIC*** though, would it be fair to say that a lot of the other horses have experience of the full and longer CCI*** or **** events.

Fair play to him though - would love to see someone local get on the team.

I think it will be the Ryans, Geof Curran, Louise Lyons and AN Other.

Fiona

For GB I think- Mary, Tina, William, Oli for the team, and theer are two individuals am I right? So possibly Lucy on Woodfalls Idigo Jones/Shaabrak, Nicola Wilson, or maybe Ruth Edge-with Two Thyme Barbury pending?
