now that the british team has been selected and we have all given our knowlageble opinions what do you all think will be the irish selection.as far as i know they have no selectors.ginny elliot has the total say.
I don't know if they will pick sam and Elizabeth because of their lack of experience but they really do deserve to go. I think they will put in solid performances and the experience will be good for future championships.
Looking ahead to 2012 - the best thing the Irish can do is to get the good young riders getting as much championship experience as possible. I would say the Irish aren't exactly expected to come in with a placing so why not send them and see how they handle the pressure? It'll give the team a real boost!
Elizabeth Power and Kilpatrick River
Sam Watson and Horseware Bushman
Trish Ryan and Fernhill Clover Mist
Lousie Lyons and Watership Down
Austin O'Connor and Pocket Rocket
Michael Ryan and Old Road
Would have said Geoff Curran and Kilkishen for sure, but Blackbird, you have got me worried about them. Is Kilkishen injured? Also, haven't seen Michael Ryan's Master Mexico out much lately - that horse always looked promising. Don't think you can ignore the results of Elizabeth Power, Sam Watson or Trish Ryan this season. Also Austin had a good result at Luhmuhlen this season. Looks quite a decent team on paper, heres hoping they can deliver when it matters.
dont know for sure about kilkishen but he has not been out since he tied up at dressage in tattersalls.but then there is sasha pemble with a good result in luhmullen and brian curran curnane with decent results at samur and barbury.
