Just putting some feelers out, but I was wondering what people thought of the situation below, and if it's something that horse owners may want?
I have just started riding again (yesterday) after a 7 year gap. I rode at a riding school, but was left feeling a little unsatisfied. When I rode previously, I shared horses for all but my first year when I was having lessons.
I loved the bond I developed with the horses, and enjoyed being around them, doing yard work as well as riding.
I'm not ready to buy yet, so the obvious answer to my 'riding school' dislike would be to share.
But I am a runner and frequently race. I do ultramarathons so they generally take all day, and if I have to travel around the country, can take up all weekend. Also I sometimes have to work late nights many days in a row.
So I couldn't commit to sharing on a set day. I could however plan in advance 2-3 months or so, but it may be a couple of evening and two weekends days one week, then nothing for a few weeks. Is it likely anyone would be interested in such a share?
I would obviously look to pay either a monthly/per day contribution, and do all jobs. I'd just like to be more involved than a riding school client, but at least for the moment, can't commit to regular ownership.
Any thoughts?
Are there horse owners out there who would appreciate irregular days off?
