Irresponsible Owners

Its a sunny easter sunday. I am dreading taking the dogs out as there will be people and unruly dogs everywhere. Id normally drive far out where no one goes and have a peaceful walk, but with petrol costs so high and me being so poor I'm trying to avoid driving like that. I think today is going to have to be an exception. I feel really unwell today and Ive had a rough night and I just cannot cope with idiot dogs and owners today.

Was that the incident where the owner was followed by someone once he had the dog on a lead?

We encounter horses occasionally in the woods, there’s a yard at the entrance and a bridleway round the periphery. G is extremely wary and hides behind me.
Im not sure - there was no information connected to the video. The humans were being useless though!

This isn’t about irresponsible owners, but just interested about peoples thoughts…I was fence judging yesterday and noticed something I hadn’t really noticed before, several dogs looking really tired after walking the course with, presumably their owners, it was an elderly looking golden lab that really caught my eye, as he/she walked behind their owner, very end of lead but making very heavy weather of it…The course is long and hilly (drumlins) ….
I actually felt so sorry for it.
several dachshunds who had passed looking very full of life, but not so much coming back…
Maybe some do not realise how much it takes out on a dog who maybe isn’t as fit as it could be…

Also, I've been out of horses for a long time, are people so laissez faire with horses? Will they pull an old, fat horse out of a field, that hasn't been in work for months and immediately go and jump cross country and get all sad because it's a bit tired and slow, if they even notice?
Unfortunately, yes. Saw exactly this at a hunter trial last year and suspect it's not an unusual scenario.

On site vet intervened thankfully.

Welcome to the new world of horse/animal owners….and it’s such a shame…Thank goodness for those in authority at events who do step up and try to explain and guide, or if all else fails stop it..

Yes.

Someone wanted to hack with me yesterday, and I had to find a nice way to put them off because I was doing a fast 3.5 hour ride and their horse has hardly been ridden all winter. Didn’t think it was fair on him, plus I was feeling rubbish and antisocial anyway.

I was on a yard about 10 years ago and a girl on her early 20s did this with her 20yo+ horse. It got ridden roughly once a fortnight during the winter and one Sunday she turned up and took it to a HT. I was gobsmacked but I think I was the only one who was!!

I did just that monday evening - was worth every penny of petrol as it restored my sanity!
