Need some advice on what to do with YO little 'something' terrier. He comes trotting over to me, then either stands on my foot (too small too light so not too much of a problem) but then if I move he latches on to my foot and it looks like I've got a hairy attachment! His teeth are razor sharp and his claws dig in and I don't want a punture in my wellies. Heaven help my feet if I am not wearing boots. In fact once i wasn't and he is some ankle biter.
I would normally do a drop rugby kick impression, (< joke, please don't take that like I am some cruel person) but as I know there is CCTV and he obviously isn't my dog - they seem to worship him, I dare not do this!!
So, without a spanked bum how do I stop this little horror doing what he does? Oh, I think he also tries to hump my leg, but as he is such a little rat, he finds it hard!!!
Help needed asap as Iam about to go and see his delightful little ass!!

When he gets too close to you and before he can attach make a unique noise that you will be able to repeat in future but which is not a common word ("Uh ah" works well) and as he continues towards you try either spraying him in the face with water or dropping a metal can full of stones (clearly I am not saying your should throw this at the dog, merely let it drop to your side so that it makes one hell of a racket). Repeat as necessary and you will find by the 4-5th repetition that he backs off at the sound of the word without you needing to go any further (you are basically associating the word "uh ah" with the scary thing that follows, water/noise, so that you only need to use the word in the future).

I hate people who don't control their dogs around others and let them become your problem! You have my sympathies!

Have you tried talking to the owners? I am a yard owner and I would be mortified if I discovered my dogs were a problem to any of the liveries but I rely on them to tell me if anything is wrong because the dogs are pretty free range and I don't always know what they are getting up to. Is it possible they are simply unaware of the problem?

LOL the way you are talking about it is very matter of fact, which made me laugh!

However not funny at all. I would think about a loud, squeaky noise maybe to break the behaviour and then turn away from the dog and wait til he loses interest and then resume, every time he advances making the noise til he backs off and making him ignore you and then resume.

That's what I did with a over interested yorkie!
