im thinking of selling my mare and her yearling and was hoping somone would buy both and keep them together, i can hope anyway, my mare is 15.1 hw cob x appolosa, roan, snowflake, 100% hack jump traffic, anyones ride, novice or ex, shes 14 yrs. her yearling filly is rich bay with white blaze and two hind socks, shes 15 hands now at 17 mths, and is expected to make 16.2, shes very good with traffic, animals kids, and i ride and lead and shes been 100% so far, had tons of handling etc, , do u think £5000, for them both is reasonable ?????????????????? thanks

Has the mare competed at all? Or has she done anything, hunt etc? Is she pretty/well put together?

I think you wil be lucky to find a home for them together.

If I’m honest I would eat my hat if you managed to get £5000 for the pair of them sold together, sorry.
You'll probably find it easier to sell them separately, good luck

yeh i thought it may of been bit steep, the mare has done cross country and fun rides thats it, ive had her 5 years, but to be honest ive always felt under horsed her being so small, she comes with a wardrobe, but i cant put a price on my babies , and now my circumstances have changed, im thinking of buying just one but bigger,

your best bet would be to sell sperately, sell the mare as a novice ride, perhaps find her a nice famiy home, I would reckon about £2-£3k given her age?

No idea on the baby, depends how it is bred/put togetherand hw it looks.

Sell them seperately, price them seperately and you will get top price for them. remember when a horse gets over 12 the market drops off a bit for them unless they are out there winning at top level so can be used as a schoolmaster or ready made competition machine. I've just sold a 10 year old version of your mare that has done area team SJ, XC, dressage, fun rides etc, full sister to a regular HOYS showing winner & bred a fantastic foal for 3K. I would expect your mare to go for a bit less because of her age unless she has loads of BSJA/other winnings. You might find that the yearling sells for more than the mare if it is nice as 'potential' is valuable. My two year old by proset out of the above mare I wouldn't take a penny less than 6K for but she is very, very nice & not for sale!!!

Do they really need to stay together? You're really limiting your market that way as not many people will want both. Hard to say but I'd put the mare up for about £2500 with all tack and rugs, and the yearling for about £1200 if she's a looker, but that might be too much!

i think i will put the cob mare up at 2300. with tack, and the yearling at 1300, cause she will make a great hunter as shes her mum x tb shire, and is mega pretty with nice paces, but im hoping 4 a family really or just happy hackers for my mare , though she can jump and can gallop fast and safe. but i will do a photo spread in my local trade it, paper.
