Many thanks for your kind reassurance YCBM. I. like the sound of the Aviform Pro Complete Balancer but have been doing some research on the Horses with Ulcers FB page and someone said "its got 1000mg of Iron per KG and iron deficiency is rare" and that worried me. I like the fact is has ingrediants to help digestion in it. My mare would have a 20gram scoop twice a day, she is 15.1 competition horse. I have been feeding Equinox but thought this was a better spec, what do you think YCBM? Does anyone here feed this Balancer?
I don't know about the spec, but I would want to see 400mg of copper and 1200mg of zinc in the daily dose, precisely because most UK forage is overloaded with iron. The copper is to counteract the iron, you need the zinc to balance the copper. The additional 40mg of iron is neither here nor there.
.
You clearly know far more than me about vitamins and trace elements. I have copies this from the website. Does this sound ok. Very many thanks for your patience with me, I really appreciate it.
Trace Elements: Iron 1000mg (iron (ll)) sulphate monohydrate (3b103); Copper 1000mg (750mg from copper (II) sulphate pentahydrate (3b405) and 250mg from copper (II) chelate of protein hydrolysates (3b407)); Zinc 2500mg (2000mg from zinc sulphate monohydrate (3b605) and 500mg from Zinc chelate of glycine hydrate (solid) (3b607)); Manganese 1500mg (from manganese (II) oxide (3b502); Iodine 10mg (calcium iodate anhydrous (3b202)); Cobalt 20mg (from coated granulated cobalt (II) carbonate (3b304)); Selenium 15mg (from Sodium selenite (3b801))
Im going to jump in the bath now and get some dinner on the go but will come back on this very helpful forum a bit later.
Its a poor spec, dont waste your money. Both PE and FP do much better balancers ranging from £12 a month for the most basic one. Equivita are similar but will do you a bespoke one, so you can have added probiotics etc if thats what you want
