Ok so had a conversation with instructor last night (would have video but can't download from camera

) and she suggested a grackle to try when jumping as Pidge tries to cross his bottom jaw when he wants to take charge

So if I go down this route do I buy cheap and cheerful or go and buy a decent one and from where?

Try a Kincade one first at £7, if you get on with that (and I used one of those for AGES for hunting etc) then look at getting a nice one if you so wish

Get a high ring grackle, the "old fashioned" ones are stronger and not hugely pleasant!

definitely worth a try. our mare with no braking system this year is now under beautiful control going from a snaffle only, to a cheltenham gag and grackle as she too was trying to cross her jaw and play with the bit- try ebay, they are not expensive anyway.

With Pickle when I first got him in the NS universal his breaks were better but not perfect, teaming it with a grackle gave me the control again! went from unable to keep control on fields on hack with 1 other person to out in groups of 15 plus and staying at the back!
