Is a hot head normal?

Numpty dog owner question. Is it normal for a dogs head to feel hot to touch? Do they lose body heat this way? Or does it just feel hot relative to rest of him as it’s the shortest bit of coat (collie with double coat). It’s sort of where cervical spine meets skull, that sort of area. Just want to check if it’s normal or could be a sign of inflammation I need to get checked?

I often notice my dogs have hot heads
