Going to see an E reg MAN 8136,

Its obviously old but apparently in good condition, but the horse section is exactly what we want- forward facing, side ramp, looks in fab condition, great payload for our two big ones.

The only thing that puts me off is the age, we would get it inspected.

What do you reckon guys?

I have an H reg Leyalnd Roadrunner, bought it 5 years ago and its in brilliant condition, fab engine;

I had the brakes done 2 years ago and 4 new tyres 4 years ago, apart from that I've not spent anything on it to get it through its plaiting.

I've got large living too and have spent many nights in it on pony camp :)

Get a reliable mechanic to check it over

I am covetting a 1973 Bedford TK from eBay atm:)

Yes they are old. But the less sophisticated parts means much less to go wrong.

They tend to have little electrics too - bonus in my book!

Thanks for that,

It is a worry buying an old one, but I suppose it comes down to a bit of luck too. They have Its quite a way away, are there any national horsebox inspection services?
Its at a dealer, and is plated until next September, mileage 177k.

I think the AA will inspect for a fee ... or was it RAC ...
Ultimately you can get the mechanics checked and check over the box itself yourself. I redid the brakes when I got mine and also the floor of the box. The seller said the floor was "new" but had no invoice so not worth the risk for me .... I needed a new clutch over the summer and various bits and bobs. They do need extra TLC, but an old workhorse is not necessarily any less reliable than a newer one!
