There are an awful lot of midges about at the moment! I got bitten to death yesterday and today while i was riding and my horse was getting very annoyed with them too! Is your horsey chestnut because mine is and he always reacts badly to any sort of bite?!

Yes they really are bad at the moment. You wouldn't expect it in November, would you!

Does he still have fly spray on when he goes out?

Yes my pony is black and he is always standing there throwing his head up and down, he has trouble easting his dinner because of them and riding is a pain - there's no point in asking him to come into an outline. My other boy has never had problems from midges and had bites all over his nose tonight. Strange.

One of the horses on our yard had the same reaction early in the year He just had a bad reaction and the lumps all wetn in two days.He looked like he had hives.
