Is anyone else buggered from riding?

Completely broken actually. Back done in, knees not good. Don't even get going on shoulders. Arthritis and I are getting very friendly. Would I rather not have had this life?????? Not on your nelly, it's been worth every stiff muscle and joint!!!

Damaged lower back in a nasty fall twenty years ago and never been quite right since. More recently have had a lot of pain with hips and sciatic type pain. Probably not helped by riding a substantially-built horse. It got so bad I'm taking a break from riding and may never go back.
Not sure whether it's the rest or the joint supplement I've started taking that has improved things so much, so a slightly scary prospect to ride again.

I'm 50 and my knees and spine are 20 years older than the rest of me. I have arthritis in my neck now, no doubt caused by carrying 20K sacks of horsefeed on my shoulders like a scarf - but it was better than putting my lower back at risk. I walk around in the morning, Z shaped. Oh yes, my right foot is permanently discoloured thanks to horse standing on it twice in 6 weeks and by coincidence?, that foot also has an athritic big toe.

I have a really bad pelvis/hips . I'm almost certain its bursitis. However I did have a bad fall cross country and a haematoma on my hip was one of many things that I gained that day, but it never seemed to go away . The blood dispersed but I'm left with a lump which makes me think something else is going on .

Yep, all that falling of when younger has caught up with me,I have arthritic changes in my neck, kissing spine (scholiosis) broken dock ( broken coccyx) huge windgall on my fetlock and naviculer (broke foot years ago) arthritis in various finger joints where they have been broken. If I was a horse I would probably have been shot by now!

We have concerns about our 12 year old (13 next week) daughter. She's been riding since she was 8 and her pony has got her off more than 20 times in that time, although she doesn't even try these days. The past 12 months have been a nightmare for injuries - she managed just 46% school attendance because of them. Not all because of falls, although she had a bad one last September.

Two ongoing problems are with her knees and her hips. She's riding a cob at the moment and it finding him to be a bit wide. Her hip keeps locking! She's fine riding a friend's pony. She had to come back early from a hack with a friend earlier this evening because her hip was playing up again.

Horses good for your health? Ha!

I feel all your pain !
Now where do I start...

Dodgy ankle that gives way when running due to be dragged by a pony with my foot in the stirrup
Knees that are getting weaker when I walk and I am starting to shuffle, but this gets much worse when I stop riding. It does wear off.
A big left foot from a crush injury, my horse fell over a jump and landed on me so I broke many bones and split it open :( I now can't wear most shoes.
The toe joint on the broken foot is still sore as that's where it split so I'm 1/10 lame ;) it also sticks out quite a lot making shoes harder to find...
Permanently swollen up ankle so my ankle bone has disappeared quite a lot..
Large dent in the back of my head from being headbutted in to a wall when clipping someones horrible horse (last time I clip for someone else!)
Multiple broken and now wonky, lumpy toes.
Broke both my wrists so they can't fully flex downwards, upwards is nearly there! and my left wrist sticks out and looks gross :o
Everytime I go for a shower I discover at least 5 more bruises :D my legs are shameful to get out in public, they are all bruised and scarred up.
I'm 20...

Ha ha , 20 falls in 4 years off the pony - that's nothing!! I learned to ride on a friend's naughty pony and on one particular day he bucked me off 4 times in less than 2 hours. Once I learned to sit the bucks he took to dropping a shoulders, or swerving suddenly. Little blighter even tried to scrape me off on a rotary washing line. But apart from a sprained thumb I can honestly say I was never hurt and it taught me how to fall, land and roll away safely which has been a very useful asset, not least when I was knocked off my bike when I was cycling to work.
