I know its horrible not riding and perhaps its easier for me because I keep them out home and we probably havent had it as bad as some but I am getting a perverse pleasure from this weather. We have had snow since the 19th December and apart from 4 days after it all melted there has been about 4 - 6 inches of snow on the ground and snow most days and I am actually really enjoying it!!

For example I am enjoying trudging through the crisp snow, dishing out huge amounts of haylage, making warm feeds, smashing 6 inch thick ice, wrapped up the nines in hat, scarf, lots of socks etc..., checking that horses are all snuggly in the rugs, wrapping taps up in towels, coming back to the house which is all warm and lovely.... I love the fact its always a bit of an expedition going to do the horses!

Admittedly running short of hay has been a bit of a nightmare but I am also enjoy the adventure of driving through the snow to get more, everyone gossiping about how awful it is - it feels a bit like everyone is pulling together a bit more!

I love looking out of the window at the horses in the snow - it all looks rather fairytale at the moment. I love the crisp sunny mornings and I love feeling snow on my face. It feels a bit like an adventure and makes a break from mud and rain at the least....

I am also pleased that at last we have a good proper winter, to kill off bugs and really make us feel like we have the change of seasons!

Not so good will be when it all melts leaving the fields all soaked and messy and I have a load of poo picking to do......I guess in another week or so I may be moaning about how much I hate!

Anyone else weird like me and enjoying this snow.....??? What have been the highlights for you?

I like the snow, infact I love the snow, seeing people out enjoying themselves on their sledges etc it's the idiot drivers and selfish attitudes that go with the snow I don't like!

I, too, on the whole am enjoying this snowy weather. I love dishing out the hay and warm feeds, ensuring my two are as happy as they can be. Driving has been okay, so long as caution is taken. My RAV4 has been brilliant and has done its job remarkably well.

Today, though, the wind was biting and I did get a little cold but I wouldn't change a single thing.

I LOVE the snow! I just hate all the selfish people at the yard who think the magic tap fairy keeps the one tap out of about 10 on the yard defrosted, and who can't be arsed to clear snow themselves but then complain when it gets icey and slippy... lets not even go there with idiot drivers! lol!

I love it too, haven't been able to ride since the beginning of December as the lanes have been far to icy so at least now we have snow, still can't ride but everything looks so nice!! Have the horses at home so it does make things a bit easier!

I started enjoying it more today when the YO decided to take her children and two grooms up the top of the hills in the kabuto and let them sledge down! She said that they cant do anything else in the way of riding/working the horses because of this snow

! I went up to join in and had a massive snowball fight, its quite good fun really. Plus mine cant go out in it which means loads of riding/lunging/going on the walker and i feel like we are finally starting to bond with me spending so much time with him

I quite like it. We're still able to turn out, the horses are happy to go out, hoon around, then stand in the barn eating haylage until they're bored then they put them selves in the stables. All I have to do is pick out feet, feed up, shut doors and muck out.

Our snow is so deep that it's going over my knees (and I'm 5'8") and the horses are quite happy.

i LOVE it.

i'm not fond of snot dripping off my nose, but other than that, i love it.
i love making up steaming warm feeds, cuddling raff to defrost my face (wiping snot on him), smashing the water in the buckets...

but...

best of all...

NO MUD!

woooohooooo

well - I wanted to emigrate to lapland after getting married there and this weather is reminding me of the happy times there so I am starting to enjoy it more and more here.

I am loving having to walk to the yard as it means I dont need to worry about doing other forms of exercise though it doesn't really seem to be doing much for weight loss as I am working up more of an appetite!!

I am strangely enjoying shovelling snow/ice to keep the access to the menage and fields going and I 've managed to dig a track in the school so I can continue to ride even if its just walking its better than nothing.

The only thing I dont like is getting to work as I hate driving in the snow/ice.

Now that i have company i'm loving the snow! I was snowed in at my parents for a few days but managed to get back home yesterday so been out enjoying the snow!

I love the snow! I get excited when it starts to snow, and all depressive when it stops!!

Horses love it too, apart from the lack of grass bit! They're getting bored of hay!

I like it; I don't feel so cold as in warmer, wetter, windier weather. I've adapted to it now, if I can just move my horse to my new yard with the indoor school, I will be quite happy for it to stay for the rest of winter.

I love it too! And still get that thrill of excitment everytime it snows.

I've had to change my routine a bit to suit the weather but so what? I'm not riding at the moment so have a bit more time to walk as required. I'm a competant driver (unlike some

) and haven't yet got properly stuck.

Horses live out 24/7 anyways (don't understand these people who won't turnout cos the fields covered in snow?!) and have a running stream, though I offer then warmer water every days.

And as clipcloppop said : NO MUD

Even Canadians get a bit fed up with sub zero temperatures and snow on the ground maybe from November to April, depends hugely on where you live.

If it didn't rain so much I'd be living on Vancouver Island, BC. It was +10C today, but rainy in Victoria

On the other hand, the Winter Olympics are in Whistler and that's in BC too.
