He's a biologist/anthrozoologist who specialises in dog behaviour. Lots on how wolves aren't actually a good model for dog behaviour, and how "dominance" techniques don't work.

Probably teaching my grandmother to suck eggs by asking you guys about it, :p but I'm curious if anyone's read it. I'm finding it a bit academicky (content fascinating, but maybe the writing could be more engaging).

Yes I'm reading it at the moment . It is a bit like chewing brick dust at times but am trying to power on through!!;) Glad I'm not the only one who finds it a bit too technical (for want of a better word!). Only on the third or fourth chapter so will add more (if I remember) when I have finished. Was wondering if anyone on here was reading it so glad you posted about it SusannaF.:D

Glad I'm not the only one finding it a bit dry! I thought it was just that I'd ruined my attention span wiht the internet. But it is full of good stuff :)

Very dry, but it is a technical work aimed at education rather than entertainment I believe.
I enjoyed the Illustrations by Alan Peters. Nice to see some realism and humour in the pages I thought.:)

Technical yes, but it's pubished by a mainstream publisher with a lot of weight behind it (for publicity, placement etc) so I was expecting something a little more accessible. That said, it's suddenly loosened up and I'm finding it easier now.

I love the drawings - making me laugh out loud. They're spot on.

Yes as i am the lover of dog from childhood so very excited to read this book. The examination of the genetic and evolutionary development of dogs, as well as their changing role in human society, was fascinating and highly illuminating.
