As per title really - anyone else staying in and being boring tonight? We have a dog who is terrified of the fireworks and my OH is working earlies tomorrow, so I am already in my "loungewear" aka pyjamas with a huge bag of maltesers as a last hurrah before the diet begins in earnest tomorrow......

Yep :D

OH and I always stay in New Years Eve.

I'm looking forward to a long quiet hack tomorrow morning when all the revellers are still in bed :)

Indeed! And shall probably be asleep by about 9.30:D

I do rather love being the first up to see my horse on New Year's Day - when the world is (for once) quiet and the traffic hushed and I can contemplate the year ahead.....

Then I remember it's bl**dy January again....

Happy, happy New Year everyone! x

Yes I always stay in NYE as I'm a boring sod and can't be hassled with all the drunken youngsters in town and the noise and hype ! (gosh I do sound old !!) Like many I am working tomorrow, Have hunters (hurrah at last!!) going out - have been good and clipped and plaited up 11 horses today and now like you am wrapped up snuggly warm after a nice hot shower with a cool beer and now pondering how to apply my OH newly awarded buttons and collar from his hunt to his hunt coat without messing it all up !!

Happy new year to you !!! Clinking my beer bottle !!

Yes that's my plan too - meeting a friend at the yard at 8am for a hopefully quiet hack, although our horses haven't been ridden since end of November because of the snow and ice, so could be quite lively!

The OH and I are staying in too, only because everyone wants to go to a club in the local town and we can not and will not pay stupid money for drinks, taxis and to get in somewhere when it is normally free etc.

We have just had a really nice roast pork dinner and glass of wine, catching up on last weeks top gear special!

Have a good evening everyone whatever your doing :) xxx

I am stopping in too, cannot be bothered to go out and that is my only excuse. I shall be up early in the morning as I am detirmed to finish poo picking which got left because of the snow.

Yep ... staying in too. Its wedding anniversary today so have perfect excuse to stay in or party which ever we chose. Keeping dogs company as scared of fireworks and shock horror probably wont even stay up till midnight !! :)

Haha ok
Work was pants and lasted all day :( Not very fair on NYE me thinks!
Then get to Ollie who is now on 8 weeks boxrest not the 2 we originally thought (then it was to isolation paddock/patch turnout), also in a dilemma about what to do about that issue! Anyway he has managed to cut above his eye, well I mean shave all the fur off and get the skin so raw that it's bright red :( He is the biggest self harmer I know and it's been driving me insane!
As for the box rest dilemma...
It was originally believed that he had done the check ligament and was told it didn't need scanning as vet was 99% sure it was the check. I asked for a scan on wednesday to see what damage had been done as I felt that was the best way forward for treatment. Same vet came out and was shall we say less then happy about doing the scan. Anyway did the scan and found out she was wrong in her first diagnosis, he had actually done the surperficial tendon (luckily not as bad as his left leg). The vet had also asked about insurance at the start!
The prognosis (sp) was 1) I could put him on 8 weeks box rest and then rescan, 2) get him to the vets and rescan and inject with either stem cells, purified blood or steriods. I am in a dilemma as to what to do. He already has a knackered tendon on the other leg and has agrevated it again with this accident. He hasn't done major damage to it, it's not bowing like the other one. However, after doing this much damage again he will never be a hunter or able to jump. I am thinking I should give him the time and see where he's at in 8 weeks time but I still can't decide for 100% if that is the right thing to do! What would you do? The vet sounded to be angling for the rest but because of insurance said the "oh but as your insured we could try this this and this".
She did also say he would be very sore when I asked about walking him in hand for a little bit each day and said she wouldnt do it at the moment, with in the same breath reduced his bute!!!
I am so confused as to what to do? I am waiting for pet plan to get back to me about transport, as I don't have any! the left leg isn't insured and will only be rested! What would you guys do?

Cookies and champagne for anyone who got this far!
Thanks
Chelle

Yup, we are. No babysitters, besides I'm a grumpy old beggar and can't be bothered with fighting my way through crowds of people. I always think New Years Eve is a funny old night anyway - it kinda lost it's novelty when I grew out of snogging any and every random stranger at midnight :o

So snuggled up infront of the fire with a bottle of red for me and OH,, probably be asleep in the beanbag before 11 at this rate. Happy New Year to all:D

If it's any consolation Chelle, Rebel did both his superficial flexor tendons at the age of about 10 in his last race. He was given time off as the trainer is a lovely man and then turned away for about six months. He has seriously bowed tendons - if I get chance, I'll take a photo of them for you. But since I bought him when he was 12, he has NEVER had a problem with them - he's had loads of other problems including a fractured radius etc, but the tendons have never caused a problem. It depends on whether you can give him the time off or not or if you need something to ride now or can wait a few months. There is also some stem cell treatment for tendons now which might be worth talking to your vet about, but if it was me personally I would give time off and turn away, but I know this has already been done with Ollie's other leg......
Just to make you feel better, I'm unlikely to be on Blue before April at least. Box rest went really badly and yesterday was the first day I was supposed to walk her in hand - yeah right! It was like taking a kangaroo for a walk. She spent most of the 10 minutes either standing on her back legs or just doing some lovely leaps which I've only ever seen done by the Spanish riding school - I'm not frightened of admitting I was absolutely terrified......so I had to bite the bullet and send her to a friend's rehab yard today where she can go on the walker - six weeks AT LEAST there, then can come back to some gentle lunging and hopefully a bit of turnout in the small paddock with a little shetland which should make her quiet enough to lead out.....so am hoping to be back on her in April - nearly 12 months since I bought her! AARRGGGGHHH

We're in too - combination of feeling ugh from flu-like symptoms and cant be bothered LOL!

Snuggled up in front of the telly with bottle of port, chocolate (which has to be eaten before midnight!!!) and the dogs....and you know what, boring as it sounds I'm loving it LOL!

Happy New Year to you all...Cheers! :D

me by myself as OH has been admitted to hospital and put on IV antibiotics over the weekend - we were meant to be going to the Hunt Ball tonight....... shirt ironed, dress bought - sitting here with takeaway and Harry Hill instead :(

not a good start to the year!! :( :(

I can give him the time off that's not an issue! It's whether (harsh as it sounds) if it's worth doing the expensive root! The bowed tendon came right after 6 months of rest in a field and has been fine up until now  The odd thing is Ollie is really happen on box rest and out of the 2 weeks he has been on it, I have seen him during 5days of it and we have bonded loads already. I think I am going to go for the rest and then if needs be I would inject! I have had a few opinions on this and all very varied, it's driving me insane... but my first thought was time! at the end of the day I am also due to have another spinal operation within the next 3 months, so in that way time is defo on my side!

Yup, my hubby and I have just finished off a pizza and profiteroles and staying in tonight - reason? We both have stinking colds and refuse to be held to ransom by greedy taxi drivers, oh also have a frineds party to go to tomorrow night and also - we are both the wrong side of40! :)

me. with a chinese takeaway and aDVD.

Same here, just had a xhinese banquet, very yummy, will have a couple of whickeys and off to bed.

Hate new years eve, can believe all the excitment from this time last week has gone :(

BAAHHHH HUMBUG

I get quite a ribbing from the rest of my family, as being scottish they think we should all love it LOL

We're staying in too, i'm on the internet as bored of tv already! I usually end up nodding off well before 12 on the sofa and have to be nudged awake to mumble happy new year to other half. Also got work tomorrow morning, on a yard so not too strenuous...fingers crossed!

Glad i'm not the only boring person on here, been away so nice to be back in my own home where for once water, heating and electric all working - very rare to get all 3 in the winter! Decent walk for my dog and long hack tomorrow followed unfortunatly by normality sun when back at work, had to happen at some point!
