Is anyone else uber-possessive of their horse?

No - although I will only let people I know well and trust take him out without me as he has had a leg problem in the past and has a bad habit of wanting to gallop everywhere. As long as I trust the person to be sensible and not to let him go everywhere at breakneck speed (he learns bad habits very quickly!) then they are welcome to ride him.

At my last yard we used to regularly borrow each others horses if we had a friend coming to ride or had a lesson and our horse had lost a shoe.

I am possessive .... but i try not to let it show.
My friends turns hers & mine out in the morning and I get them in again in evening (so we both only have to go to yard once a day) but anything beyond this, is too much

Although I couldn't make it to yard either evening at weekend and it doesn't help that friend texted saying her (never-been-near-a horse-in-his-life) boyfriend brought my horse in ..... yet the day before, he knocked over the girl (Hi ACE87) when she tried to bring him in. Arrghhh. So the numpty BF thing really annoyed me!

Oh and my other horse lives out 24/7 had abcsess in his foot that and the yard "assisted livery" girl couldn't get him out of the field for farrier to look at him. He is the most easy horse to handle ever! When I got there that evening, he came with barely any protests for me. In fact i can ride him in from field in a headcollar normally! (I have a suspicion she is useless .... but it just makes me think it's far easier to just do it myself)

I am the whole meaning of uber-possessive!
Nobody is even allowed to sit on Wills and I find it hard enough when they turn him out or bring him in for me, I was the same about his mum and when I deemed to allow my hubby to sit on her he said he hated it as it felt like he was drinking a cup of tea from Hyacinth Buckets finest periwinkle!
Can't help it he's mine, mine, mine!!!

I dont think I would be like that at all if I had my own horse. Purely because I rely on riding other peoples horse to get my "fix"

and would love to help others in my position now if you get what I mean?

i have had to get used to it as hes on full livery, ridden by my instructor and my dad- but in a way, i only let them ride him if they are any good! i get worried they might ruin him lol!!!
