Is anyone elses horses starting to get their winter coat?

I was grooming Nevada this morning and noticed that he is starting to get is winter coat on the tops of his legs and his belly. I checked Fred to see if he was getting his yet but he is not. Is anyone elses horses staring to get theirs or is Nevada just incredibly early lol.

Noticed my warmbloods coat is feeling thicker today. Hairy cob still got most of last years coat

Yep. Plenty of hair coming out. I will now be unable to go anywhere straight from the yard as I end up wearing most of my horses' coats on my own clothing. It's a look I don't feel proud of, but have to get used to!

Lil's coat is definitely shedding. She's lost her beautiful shine as well and has gone a nasty dull colour. Am itching to get the clippers out and find the beautiful black horse again underneath the fur.

he is also moulting loads too. I'm hoping I can get him clipped earlier this year so he does not turn out loooking like a bear for 3 months!

My two, in particular the youngster have started to grow their winter coats. Mainly along their backs. There's summer hair being shed too.

Bring it on! They winter out naked so they'll be needing it!!

Yes arab mare is looking a bit fluffier along her back and has lost the lovely shine but they are living out.

Apart from the horse that is 38 he is the first horse I know of to start getting his winter coat, It might because he spends every day naked lol

Funny you should say that cos last night, I decided to fetch my warmbloods in after them being out for about 2 weeks and I noticed that their coat is a tad longer/thicker and the bay has got dapples which happens when she has felt the cold. So they are in tonight too. If that is the summer over, they will be in now til next summer. Now, wheres the number of that nice blade sharpener man?

Yep, my two started moulting over a week ago and winter coats are coming in quickly. Fuzzy natives!

the worst thing things about the moulting is it makes me sneeze, sets my asthma off and the hairs stick to everything!

One of mine is - she always does start at this time of year, but I usually rug her because we are competing but shes been off work this summer, so hasn't been rugged.

Will be clipping her as soon as shes back in work. Can't abide all that hair!

no my tb isnt molting yet, but cant wait to clip him out, his pre owners clipped him really late and he has horrid clip lines

yep, mine moulted end of July and now has half a winter coat!!!!
